Subject: Report on the Bimmiel Incident
Classification: Secret (CTX-Directive), High Priority Sir, NRI has gathered some information on the Bimmiel Incident to which the Imperial Minister of State, Mr. Fiske, has referred in his statement to you last night. Based on the Pioneer's last known location, and the positioning of debris and vented oxygen that was left behind from the skirmish, we believe without doubt that our vessel was not in Imperial space. We are able to confirm that 5 of our starfighter pilots were killed (2 E-wing and 3 B-wing starfighters destroyed); one has survived, however, and has indicated to us that it was, in fact, the Imperial Star Destroyer Marathon which commenced firing on the Pioneer in a manner calculated to capture the ship. We see no reason to believe that the Pioneer was, in fact, responsible for this incident.
Mr. Fiske's claims are, thus, either badly misinformed or deliberate falsifications of the facts of this event. I'm afraid this is all the information that NRI will be able to gather. Be advised, also, that we've retrieved the bodies of 12 Imperial crew. I hope this information is helpful to you.
