The bounty hunter, Kyrum, was led by one of Njon's henchmen into a dark and oddly aromatic room aboard the Franchise, the Hutt's commandship (the same model as one of the Trade Federation's old droid control ships, only this one was in poor condition, its corridors strewn with refuse and discarded machinery and droid components). The smell of spice was everywhere in the ship, which Kyrum no doubt would have noticed as soon as he'd stepped free from his ship and onto the large hangar floor.

But this room smelled different from the rest, and it was warm and humid. The door would close behind the bounty hunter, leaving him in absolute blackness. "I forget occasionally that you humans can't see in the dark," Njon Anjiliac's deep voice called out to him from somewhere within, "Your species always underestimates mine, even though we survive ten times longer, in harsher climates than you, and we can see in ultraviolet light. I believe we are the more evolved species." The room's bright flourescent lights then came on suddenly, revealing a room more like a greenhouse than a compartment on a starship; Kyrum would find himself surrounded by strange, exotic plants underneath heat lamps and incubators.

In the center of it all was Anjiliac, looking at the bounty hunter with a broad smile (as he must have been doing the whole time, in the dark). "However," he said as he lumbered toward one of the larger plant specimens and gestured for Kyrum to have a look, "This species puts us both to shame. It's a carniverous plant, from Felucia. It captures an animal, or a person, traps them inside and keeps them alive for a long while. It uses its prey's carbon dioxide and supplies them with oxygen, while it slowly digests the nonessential parts of its body; limbs, skin, sensory organs. It even provides the prey with some of its own substances, to nourish the poor creature and keep it alive as long as possible. It's a very long and unpleasant death."

"Impressive, no?"

The hutts were one of the last species Kyrum thought he would be having dealings with considering the last deal he had was with Jabba himself dealing with a spice dealer. the smell of spice was indeed something that he noticed once he entered the ship the men had begun to step to the side once the doors began to close. Kyrum's senses were on high alert once this took place. a slight smile came upon his face as he heard the voice of the Hutt. "underestimating is something I have not done in years." upon seeing the light come on all of a sudden, he shielded his eyes for a moment to allow his own eyes to get used to the transition from the darkness to light. Kyrum took a look at the plant and couldn't help but be astonished by it. "indeed. now I know you didn't call me here to discuss man eating plants or the digestion process of them. although I do know it is interesting to say the least. so shall we get down to business?" Kyrum was not one to stall when it came down to business dealings no matter what the sort. personal calls could be made later if situations waranted it.

"Yes indeed!" the Hutt said cordially, smiling his unpleasant smile again. He was smaller than most other Hutts—something for which he was occasionally derided, among his own species—but this did not make his presence any more bearable. "You've done business for the Cartel before," he said to Kyrum, "for one of my predecessors as I understand it, which I won't hold against you. We may be interested in contracting your services; needless to say, we would make this worth your while but, you'll understand, we'd like you to undertake a more modest assignment first, to put your ability and—how is it in Basic?—your determination to the test."

"There is a Senator from Dantooine," he continued, his voice becoming far more serious, and menacing. "Jamulon Desilijic Tiure, patronizingly known to you humans as Jamie the Hutt, did my clan an unkindness and extorted a considerable amount of money from us. This occurred some hundred years ago, but we Hutts do not forgive and forget. I want him to be shot," he came to the point abruptly, and allowed it to linger in silence for a moment before he went on, "I don't want him killed, mind you, only shot. I want him to feel pain, and to know that we've not forgotten him."

"You will be well paid, of course."

"Ah yes, word gets around I see. yes I have done numerous runs for the Cartel before. that has been many years ago though." upon hearing the details of the senator, he was almost shocked at the fact that the Hutt wanted him shot and not killed, Kyrum thought on this a moment and on the various ways that it could be done. "and do you wish to have him brought to you? or just left wondering what happened." he was simply weight in his options and seeing what could be done in the situation he was facing. he had not yet agreed to the Job but the possibility was definately there. a Hutt in the senate....there was a tyime when this wouldn't have been considered but times had changed. he would look to Njon for his answer before continuing any further.

Don't get him wrong—Njon was pleased to see Hutts in positions of power, since the Republic and certainly the Empire before it were too often dominated by humans and, thus, their politics tended to have a vulgar and impulsive quality. Hutts were more elegant in their politics. That is, usually; Blotus the Hutt ruled the Old Republic for 275 years and was still considered one of its greatest Chancellors. Undoubtedly, however, Blotus would be writhing in his grave at Jamulon's embarassing conduct in the Senate, of late. The Senator from Dantooine was reinforcing the worst stereotypes about his species. But all of this was beside the point.

"You may leave him bleeding on the street, if you wish," Njon said with a disturbingly dismissive wave of his stubby hand, "I have no desire to set my eyes upon him, or endure his presence. Not yet. There is something you must understand, however," the Hutt added with a suddenly mischievious tone of voice, raising his brow to the extent that he had one, "My predecessor, Jabba, was more tolerant of failure than I am. If you think you can do this job, accept it, and do it. If you don't think you can, than don't accept it. However, if you accept the job and do not do it..."

He let the proposition hang menacingly in the air for a moment, before concluding the sentence; "Well, my plant will have something to feast on for quite some time. Be assured of this."

Kyrum arched a brow at how he spoke about Jabba's tollerance of failure and thought to himself. "he must have gotten softer in his later years I don't remember him being tolerant of failure either after all, that was what the Rancor pit was all about. or worse. with a slight nod of his head he then replied. "I accept and I will let you know when the Job is taken care of. he thought of the possibility that he had mentioned but quickly shoved it from his mind. too risky he thought to himself. "don't worry about your plant. I am sure it will be satisfied soon. if not finding its own prey." "oh and it will be done. I guarantee it. failure isn't exactly something I deal with either."

"I'm pleased," the Hutt said, smiling once more. He lumbered toward one of the more harmless plant specimens, inspecting it closely and occasionally pruning it of dead leaves as he continued, absently, "The pay is not so important to me, let us say one million? I prefer even numbers. You will be paid in Republic credits, Imperial, aurodium, whichever you prefer." He regarded Kyrum briefly, then returned to his plants and added, "Upon completion of course."

"This will be good for you, if you succeed. As you know, the Cartel looks out for its own." The door slid open once again, and the same henchman as before—a Rodian—stood waiting outside, "If we understand each other then, you will be shown back to your ship."

Kyrum nodded in agreement to the deal as it was being made"you have a deal then. and yes I am well aware.. as the door began to slide open he looked to the Rodain who stood in wait. I will report back to you when it is done. The Rodain looked to Njon and then to Kyrum for a moment. Kyrum turned to the Hutt once more before allowing the Rodain to lead him back to his ship. "it has been a pleasure doing business with you"
