There are many new members in the Senate who might not recall that, nine years ago, the Prosperity Alliance—that is, the combined forces of the planets Brentaal and Neimoidia, and a mining conglomerate—selflessly answered the call of the New Republic and blockaded the planet Acherin (which was then held in the grip of the worst of Imperial tyrannies of that era, which is, fortunately, now behind us). We weakened the Imperial regime there, did battle with their fleets, and even captured one of their vessels; the cruiser Olympic. Today, Acherin is free because of the Prosperity Alliance and the New Republic.

As some of you may know, the Olympic was later refitted as a traveling museum to honor the blockade and the blockadeers, and the sacrifices that they made for another people's freedom. The museum includes exhibits on the heroic sacrifice of Brian Kruus—son of our very own Senator Luuneray Kruus—and his supremely valuable shuttle which was shot down along with his son, and also exhibitions on the weapons of mass destruction that were seized from the Acherin regime, the regime's propaganda posters against the Republic, the moving testimonies of the crew and officers who were there, and an exposition of poetry and literature in their honor. There is also a library of documents including, for example, statements to the Senate and contemporary news accounts.

Senators, the Acherin Blockade was perhaps the finest example of planetary cooperation in the New Republic's history, and I propose that we honor the Acherin Blockade Museum by declaring it an official historical landmark. I vote in favor.

Senator Sir Reuke Cambrist, Brentaal
Chairman of the Commerce Council

The Acherin Blockade, while its legality at the time may have been questioned has undoubtedly yeilded a freer world and helped bring about the end of the Pentastar Alignment. I am almost happy, nay proud that my aurodium plated shuttle (value of one Billion credits) and also my son Perished in the cause of Freedom.

Thus I vote In Favour.

Greetings,

This is one of a very few things I would agree with Senator Cambrist on. I believe that by having the Museum be an official historical landmark, we are making everybody remembering the courage the Prosperity Alliance displayed at the Acherin Blockade. Especially Senator Kruus' son, Brian Kruus. This would be the best way of honoring everyone who fell at the time. I vote in favor.

Tremaine Fowlkes,
Senator of Mowgle

I am inclined to agree. Such heroism should be honored. I also vote in favor of this motion.

I vote in favour of our war heroes at Acherin. Where Planetary Sovereignty was proven to be alive in the New Republic.

“Danni Albeara, Finnigan Mh’ayr, P’dral Hoss, Vinn Ghar. These men and women were members of my squad when we were ambushed by the Empire on Osarian; they all gave their lives defending the freedom of people they never even knew. They were hero’s much the same as Biggs Darklighter, Raymus Antilles, and Jek Porkins and yet we have no fitting memorial for them.

“While I can find no fault in honoring our dead I find sufficient reasons to stand AGAINST this measure, in solitude if needs be."

Mr Carson, if you wish to build them a memorial, I am sure the Senate will recognise it. You are offering no logical reason for your vote against.

Neimoidia and Brentaal have produced this memorial to their dead, and the New Republic dead at Acherin.

With 6 votes in favour and 1 against. This motion passes.
