Renaming the Strategic Bacta Reserve

I propose changing the name of the "Eli Fitzgerald Strategic Bacta Reserve" to, instead, simply the "Strategic Bacta Reserve." While it's true that Mr. Fitzgerald established the reserve some years ago, I daresay that the times have since changed and Mr. Fitzgerald has not changed with them. I don't think we should be honoring a man, today, whose views are so clearly outside of the mainstream on matters of war and peace. I vote in favor.

The Administration's Official line is to be in support of this motion.

The Navy is not named 'The Admiral Ackbar Navy' nor the Starfighter Corps the 'General Calrissian Starfighter Corps' nor the Jedi Order 'Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order'.

This is not intended as a Criticism of Mr Fitzgerald, who has made a valid contribution to the New Republic, simply renaming an inapropriately named State Service.

I vote in favour of this motion. Mr Fitzgerald is a relic of a past age, his violent beliefs are no longer welcome.

Also as an administrative matter, the Chief's argument makes sense.

Chief of State Fitzgerald can be remembered for his impact on the Galactic Scene, but with the name of an institution does not seem egalitarian and sets a precedent.

I will, however, be in favour of naming the New Primary Committee Room I an constructing on the new wing of the Senate Committee Arcology the Eli Fitzgerald Room.

The motion passes 3 votes to 2.
