Senators,

I am sorry to wake you at this unholy hour. But I have just recieved news that military actions are ongoing in the Corellian system, with an attack reported on a Corellian Vessel and further extensive troop movements on the Twin Worlds. I am authorising the Frigate Deliverance to monitor the situation.

The Senator of Corellia is called to give a full account presently and to explain rumours being circulated in the press of thousands of deaths?

It is fortunate that I'd not yet departed Coruscant for my monthly sojourn to Naboo when this emergency session was called. Of course, I offer the Senate whatever opinions or services I may give to assist in this matter. We spend so much of our efforts debating the question of a greater peace that, perhaps, sometimes we do not attend to the demands of peace at home. My condolences to Senator Karath if this violence has claimed the lives of any of his soldiers. I join the Chief of State in asking of him a full accounting of these events.

My personal shuttle is landing in Coronet at the moment, and I will pass on information as I find out. I truely doubt any rumors being circulated as you have spoken Chief Gavrisom, as news crews in the area are just now going online, and any such rumor is just that, a rumor. No report has been released considering death tolls or casualties. We are yet to get into full contact with our units on Tralus, where the fighting is occuring so we are unable to give any account of dead and wounded, but the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the Corellian Military Forces have reported to me the Corellian Gunship Kolene was damaged during a routine inspection of a craft entered Tralus, standard procedure since heightened hostilites and tension with local rebels, resulting in the deaths of 44 Corellian Crewman, Marines, and CorSec Officers and wounding of 23 others. I am glad to report the Kolene was able to withdraw safely to Corellia and currently undergoing repairs to bring her to battle ready status. It was by the grace of the Force and quick thinking of Captain Talon that this wasn't a total loss, but this cowardly terrorist attack was parallel to a massive rebel offensive against our minimal peacekeeper presence on the planet. We are currently evacuating VIPs and those considered at risk for execution in the event of a rebel takeover on both Tralus and Talus. Corellia will respond with decisive force, while continuing to bring a peaceful resolution to this internal dispute. I remind the Senate that this is a Corellian matter, and we, Corellia, will deal with it. In the meantime, we do not require any assistance from the NRDF at this time, and in the event of such a turn of events, will let the New Republic now. In the mean time, the NRDF vessel and its crew are better served elsewhere. I thank Senator Vanden for his condolences on the loss of our servicemen and servicewomen.

Certainly, Senator. I also respect that this is a Corellian matter, but if you will forgive me my ignorance of Corellian affairs, what is it exactly that these "rebels" on Talus and Tralus want and what, pray tell, seems to have instigated these events? Also, it's my understanding that Centerpoint Station (essentially a superweapon, if it is used inappropriately) is situated between Talus and Tralus. I'm sure that your forces will do what is necessary to keep this weapon secure in the midst of this fighting, but nonetheless I would certainly be more at ease knowing that the frigate that President Gavrisom has dispatched is, in fact, present to make certain.

They are a rogue element, aiming for their independence from Corellia, but have repeatedly gone to violent means, including today, rather than any diplomatic. This fighting hase been going on for over the past five hundred years. Unfortunatly, our relative peace after the Insurrection of two years ago has been broken, despite attempts at a reunification. As for Centerpoint, you have no need to worry. We have several vessels within a seconds of response to the station, and our elite commando unit aboard. We currently considering sending two additional special forces groups aboard for extra measure. I assure you, nothing will take ahold of Centerpoint, with self-destruction of the station our backup plan should we loose control. To our knowledge, these rebels do not appear to have any space assets, and thus, again, do not require aid from the Republic. I again ask that our territory and sovereignty be respected in this internal matter.

Senator,

The frigate Deliverance will still closely monitor the situation in order to feed to us unbiased reports and keep us briefed of the ongoing action, but as you wish will not provide any services to the Corellian Military.

We do question the issue of Sovereignty here, while Tralus and Talus are traditionally Corellian posessions, does not 500 years of resistance to Corellian rule and several (including this) bloody rebellions not indicate they might be happier as an independant entity? And perhaps would not negotiations and a diplomatic settlement, possibly a peace process enforced by peacekeepers and a democratic ballot on Corellian sovereignty be better rather than gunning down the rebels?

I second the Chief of State's words. Surely there must be a reason that these separatists feel compelled to such, frankly, atrocious methods as those being described here. I do not condone them, but this seems like a problem that requires a comprehensive solution; surely after five hundred years of war, more war cannot reasonably be seen as the solution. What are the Senator's thoughts on a peace keeping force as President Gavrisom has suggested, to pacify these rebel forces (which, one assumes, are a fringe element) and to bring all responsible parties back to the negotiating table?

These approaches have been tried, and utterly failed. Most recently, the past three months, we have been attempting to get a summit between each side's leadership, however we received nothing but stonewalling from the rebels and these attempts, which were still ongoing earlier today, have ended in this dastardly surprise attack. To be frank, the Rebels are not interested in peace, only war. As for the rebel movement, although apparently more organized and sizeable than Corellian Intelligence estimated, a majority of the population do not support these rogue revolutionaries who slaughter in surprise attacks. We are still attempting to get into contact with our forward units on Tralus to give a report of the action so far, however from what I've been told, they, all they way to command and support personnel, are too busy fighting for their lives to give us any reports.

*appearing through hologram, this time from the Corellian command center*

Following a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and War Ministry, I am able to give the following update.
Corellia suffered the following losses today:
Military-3,834 dead, 35 wounded (with an additional 44 dead, 23 wounded from the Kolene)
Civilian-43 dead, 284 wounded

Rebel losses (estimated)
800 dead

I might put in relativity, over 3 billion beings call the Corellian system home. Most of these losses were taken in a surprise attack, however we had an event that has made this day even worse. One of our units, the 98th Light Infantry Brigade Combat Team was massacred at the foot of Bull Mountain, outside the capitall city of Rallidir. A terrorist attack on one of our naval vessels followed by a surprise attack on our peacekeeping forces. This is a sad day in Corellian history, and as I speak, through the night, the rebels are making their within kilometers of the capital city. Thankfully, Corellian Intelligence believes they are ill-equiped for night time operations, allowing our night attack capable fighters to continue to punish them as they approach, and give coordinates for our artillery strikes. Tralus and Talus have been reinforced by our Special Operations Command and two Infantry Divisions. We intend to fight them off from the capital, and once in retreat, resume attempting to find a peaceful solution to this matter. No acts of aggression have been reported from FedDub movement elements on Talus, so, while taking necesarry precautions, we are treating this as an isolated matter. A week of morning is being declared throughout the Corellian Sector due to the losses suffered today. I will keep the Senate up to date on this matter, and once any further accurate information is being passed along, I will give it to you.
