I propose that a Select Committee be formed to investigate the Viceroy Kruus, a vessel that is, admittedly, as revolutionary in its design as it is controversial. Yes, it is larger than any ship in the entire New Republic fleet (with the sole exception of the Super Star Destroyer Lusankya), and yes, its firepower is gratuitous, but I have made these points before and this is not the reason that I propose this Committee. Instead, I wish to inquire specifically into the Viceroy Kruus' integration of an organic "pilot" with inorganic, sentient computer systems; both the science and practicality of this, and also its ethical implications which I feel have not been adequately studied.

Because of my clear interest in this matter, I ask that I would chair this Committee if it is approved. Senator Kruus himself has for years pressed for more interest in his vessel, so I would hope that he, too, would support this measure perhaps as a precursor to full Defense, Economics, or Commerce Council hearings on the subject which, it is my understanding, have never been held. I vote in favor because, again, I feel this is an area in need of study.

Representative of the Naboo

Neimoidia asserts, as ever that it has nothing to hide, and as such votes in favour of Mr Vandens Select Committee.

It's not whether a Committee should be appointed to look into it. For me, it is more of a question as to why he was allowed to construct it in the first place. I mean, was the Senate quite mad on that day? Too chain a pilot to a ship and do such things as I have read about? It's unnatural! It's quite akin to slavery.

I see no reason why a committee should not look into this matter. I agree with Senator Vanden and vote in favor.

With a lack of debate or opposition to this motion, it passes unanimously.

Mr Vanden, please contact my department in order that the facilities and services you require for this committee be procured.
