Senator Fitzgerald,

I have been made aware of your Freedom Fund and felt compelled to get in contact with you. We have worked together while you were Chief of State and do hope you will still consider my advice or aid.

As a member of the Diplomatic Corps, I feel that my affiliation to the New Republic should make my loyalties neutral in regards to such proposals. But as a Chandrilan national and individual, I am inclined to agree with your organization. There are, as you mention, still many worlds either under Imperial or New Republic control that are governed with tyranny and force. Those worlds deserve civil liberties and protection from rights abuse and the atrocities they are subjected to.

That being said, let me stress out that I agree with your organization solely on the basis that it will indeed promote peaceful resistance done in legal manners. And although I do not entirely agree with the promotion of strikes, occupation of land and buildings or resistance that may result in the disruption of daily life, I still prefer such measures over any bloodshed or illegal activities.

You know me to be a man of method and order: should any violence, deaths or property destruction occur because of this organization, I would appreciate that my contributions to it be disavowed. Should I discover or be made aware that the organization finances or has engendered illegal activities, I would request that my participation cease and that any records of my involvement be destroyed.

I assume that a donation of 50,000 credits would be accepted?

Senator Fitzgerald,

I thank you for your words. Although I do not actually expect anything illegal to come out of this organization, I simply wished to stress those points for reassurance. After all, we never know how things may turn out in the long run.

To whom and where should I transfer the funds to?

Concerning your proposed protest at the Morishim conference… As you have correctly surmised, I have been asked to participate at the meeting. I have also agreed to do so. As such, expect me to side with the New Republic. Should anyone bar my way, I will force my way. Should anyone actually attempt to get violent, I will defend myself and those I represent.

I expect the atmosphere to be tense despite the armistice. I myself still hold a grudge against the Empire after all these years for its involvement in my father’s death. It’s common knowledge in the upper echelons that there is nothing I want more than to take the House of Ryner heirloom datadagger and plunge it in the hearts of those directly responsible for his execution… but I fear that would set us back a great deal. As always, I put those sentiments aside in order to advance peace and prosperity.
