The following letter was delivered to the Count of Serenno and also published.

Count,

I understand you have under your protection the coward and rebel, Mr Revan Park. I issue the following challenge to him, that he come to fight me in the field of honor in your capital. There he will fight a duel against me. Man to man we will decide the fate of Leirooine.

A duel on the field of Honor will solve the issue of the Leirooine succession rather than by the cowardly shedding of blood against my people that Revan Park would enact. If he refuses this duel, I would charge Revan Park with cowardice, cowardice symptomatic of the Park family, and the wish to see more blood spilled.

This way, Honor will be satisfied, the God Revan will be satisfied and the blood of one will prevent the blood of the many. If he loses, he will yeild to me, he will become my lawful property to do unto him what I wish, the same will apply to my opposition should I lose.

Yours in good faith.

Ribaldequin I
King of Leirooine
Chosen Prophet of Revan

Count,

It has been 5 days since my original issue of a challenge. Still I have heard nothing from the cowardly whelp Revan Park who seems to just be cowering rather than fighting to spare the blood of his, and my people.

If he has been seen to decline this challenge to a duel, then I would ask that your government dis-avows this coward, casts him out and releases him to my custody. For if he is too much of a coward to fight a duel, then he is clearly too much of a coward to be worth your support or patronage.

He is a man who lives in an opulent home, drives in an executive speeder and squanders your money, furthermore he is a coward.

Ribaldequin I
King of Leirooine
Chosen Prophet of Revan

Mr. Park,

The Counts of Serenno have not so generously provided you with diplomatic immunity so that it may be used in such a timid manner as this. You have been challenged to a duel, man, and it is unbecoming to leave this challenge unanswered and, furthermore, it is an embarassment to our cause. Mr. Ribaldequin, for whatever else he may be, is, apparently, a man of chivalrous character; he has offered a solution to this dilemma that averts the needless expense of lives and funds—funds which, incidentally, Serenno has provided to you and with which no visible progress seems to have been made, much to our trepidation.

Mr. Park, understand that Serenno's support for you is predicated on the assumption that our cause is of sufficient importance to you that you are willing to give your life for it. If you are not so committed, we will be compelled to reconsider that support. If you are so committed, understand also that even in the event of your death the cause of independent worlds will live on after you.

Should you accept the challenge from Mr. Ribaldequin, Serenno shall agree to officiate the duel in the city of Carannia.

Mr. Park,

As we have heard nothing from you and are unaware of your whereabouts or the manner in which the credits and the prestige of the planet Serenno are being used, we are suspending our funding to you and your diplomatic visa. We are most displeased with this turn of events, as it is a great discredit to our cause. Good day, Mr. Park.

(on behalf of the Counts of Serenno)

My apologies to the Counts. I was travelling off of Coruscant in the Outer Rim, visiting various neutral worlds, when an unfortunate pirate raid on one of the worlds damaged their communications relay and severely damaged their spaceport. I was trapped and unable to contact you for the past few weeks. Again, I apologize, and I am en route now to Coruscant. While I am en route, and expected to not arrive for another three days, the unfortunate consequence of contracting out my transportation to the first person I could gain a ride from without fearing for my life, I am finally able to respond to this. By no means am I acting timid, nor did I intention for this to remain unanswered for so long. I do ask that the visa be reinstated by the time I arrive, where I can give a full report on recent actions to you.

Now, onto the matter of this challenge. Now by no means should this be taken the wrong way by the most honorable Counts to whom I have the deepest gratitude. However, as I have only recently become involved in this matter, it is unfitting that I myself duel on the behalf of my people. Rather, I believe the most fitting man in this entire galaxy is that of my father, one Jaron Park. He stands as the last remaining symbol Deralia has of a better time, one in which we were free and our planet was independent...not raped and pillaged by foes from abroad, posing as natives and hiding behind the flag of the New Republic and Neimoidia in the biggest display of cowardice and dishonor I have seen in my life. My father, not myself, should be the man that fights. For it is the most honorable and respectful course of action from where I stand. And I say all of this with the utmost repect to the Counts.

As an off hand comment, all of my personal possessions...home, speeder, etcetera, have been purchased with my own financial assetts, not those of Serenno.

Mr. Park,

The Great Houses of Serenno appreciate that circumstances can conspire most unfavorably to one's intent and, accordingly, we respectfully withdraw any trenchant remarks directed at you in previous letters. However, the Counts are desirous to speak with you in person so that we may discuss your plans regarding Deralia, and your visa. Please return to Serenno posthaste—your pilot may be assured that the Great Houses shall compensate him for his inconvenience.

With respect to your father, Mr. Jaron Park, it is our understanding that he is presently in Imperial custody and, thus, beyond reprieve. Moreover, we question his fitness to partake in a duel (he is in a most emaciated condition, you will recall, from a decade of torture at the hands of Mr. Ribaldequin), and also his suitability to do so; with no disrespect intended, you must know that your father's reign is looked upon quite unfavorably by the majority of your people as "the beginning of the end" of Deralian prominence. We understand that you feel passionately about your blood relation, but please realize that involving your family in this matter would be injurious to the credibility of your government.

As it were, you are the elected head of that government and, so, act on behalf of your people. The Great Houses regard you, accordingly, as the most appropriate individual to duel for the fate of Deralia—to represent not an erstwhile period of freedom and independence, but a new one.

We hope this letter finds you well, and recovered from your recent ordeal. We shall expect to greet you on Serenno presently.

(on behalf of the Counts of Serenno)
