In the Dantooine system, behind the second moon emerged from hyperspace the force designated Invasion and Punative Force, coming in as close to the moon as possible, powering up for battle but keeping the moon in between them and the planet, effectively having it Eclipse them from the planets sensors and weapons...

They powered their weapons to full and launched a squadron of TIE Interceptors from the Nebulon-B frigate, sending them skimming around the moon and towards Dantooine itself, scanning the area for defenses and population concentrations.

Today would be the end of Dantooine as it was known...

In space, closer to the planet emerged the PDS Ships, Defender (fully active having been surrendered while still shielded, shielded from view from the planet by the larger Justice underneath it, but could still be detected on sensors) and Justice (still suffering minor engine damage, meaning its turning and acceleration were decreased somewhat, still rapidly accelerating however as it headed towards the gravity of Dantooine), comming to the Dantooine ground control "This is the PDS ship defender, weve been tracking the Imperial battlegroup that even now is right behind your moon! Let us know where we are needed." They proceded towards the Imperial flight group in the direction of the planet, appearing to be taking a gravatic sling towards it to engage at full tilt.

(( Alright so I checked up on it, and it appears that during the Vjun crisis, the Enforcer was called away, then called back. It's safe to assume that the IMC Enforcer is in orbit around the planet. I'll have to check with Jace about the specs on armament and fighter compliment though. Also, a trading station was established in the system by the IMC with four squadrons + reserves (50 fighters). Total IMC defensive forces around Dantooine include the Enforcer, it's fighters, and the 50 fighters in the trading station. I'm going to with hold replying though until Exar makes a post, and until I get more information on the Enforcer by Jace. smile Thanks. ))

The lead PDS ship just began to descend into Dantooines gravity well, allowing itself to drop and accelerate, burning its engines to full while overloading its reactors as it entered the high atmosphere, the vessel begining to be pulled apart by the speed of accelerations and gravatic forces it broke in two, the forward section of the vessel continuing on its course crashing down into the Dantooine atmosphere, the rear part exploding spectacularly as its reactor finally went, scattering the vessel widely, and the resulting shockwave causing the acceleration of the other part of the ship, sending it into a tumble.

The other PDS ship, the Morgan class did continue on its apparent course, taking a slingshot towards the Imperial force behind the moon, which withdrew its fighters quickly, at this stage at a high speed, the Imperial fleet matched its course and speed, entering a formation with it as they headed out of the system, keeping the moon between the planet and them as ever and programing in hyperspace coordinates away from Dantooine to their staging area.

They broadcast a message as they began to leave, on all frequencies, they had made an attack that was swift, brutal and long lasting, the effects of the crashing ship would be insignificant today, but over time, Dantooine would suffer. "Thus always to rebels"

(invoking the 4 day limit to auto events)

Those residing in Dantooine's South polar region would shield their eyes from a bright, white flash in the sky as the Justice splintered in the atmosphere and its stern exploded. It would be a spectacular light show, were it not so deadly; a brilliant green turbolaser blast could be seen blazing into the heavens, missing its target and eventually disappearing into the blackness of space. A second shot, however, did connect with the plummeting bow of the ship, blasting it into still smaller debris. One particularly large (over 100 meter) hulk of roasted durasteel would splash into the ocean, creating a cloud of vapor and upsetting the seas, but causing otherwise little damage.

The casualties would become known only gradually, as the scope of the disaster became known in the hours that followed; a passenger ship felled by debris, killing all aboard; a landspeeder hit while joyriding in the countryside, killing the couple within; a townhouse demolished by a falling barbette, killing 20. But most of the Justice would disintegrate beautifully in the sky, as meteor showers could be seen through the entire Southern hemisphere of the planet.

The New Republic vessels and their accompanying starfighters, which arrived within minutes of the assault, assisted the locals with turbolasers and tractor beams to map and clear some of the larger debris, and provide traffic control in orbit and medical relief on the surface. When the fire in the sky finally did subside, 128 would be dead. But the real killer lingered, unseen, circulated by the wind and the rain and sea; but it was not a killer of men, but of flora. Radiation from the Justice's reactor would, over the coming weeks, contaminate and wither hundreds of billions of credits worth of crops and agriculture on Dantooine's otherwise famed and fertile fields, and it would be a mammoth undertaking to repair the destruction.

And so Dantooine's and the Republic's work began, both to revive the planet from this attack and to exact vengeance on its perpetrator.
