My apologies for how the last application attempt went. After re-organizing my efforts, and taking care of some domestic issues, I resubmit the Senate Application for myself to take over the vacant seat of the Tapani Sector delegation.

“Allow me to welcome you back to these chambers, may you have better luck this time. I shall start off with the simple questions: How will your allegiance aid the Republic, and what are you asking in return other than protection?”

"I've always been a fan of Tapani Politics; they are so riveting! I'm curious, how did a Freeworlder (I believe that is the term within the Tapani Sector isn't it?) come to be nominated the Senator of the Tapani Sector? I was under the assumption that most of the Freeworlds abstained from galactic politics"

Unless he give unfavorable answers to the questions presented, in which case I will change my vote, I approve.

The Tapani Sector has always had a strong trade industry, and we wish to continue this. While we indeed have a unique political system, one of noble power in most regions of our Sector, we are democratic. The Freeworlds as a testament to this. Contrary to popular belief we do try to get involved in galactic politics. Unfortunately, the power of the noble houses has prevented this. However, recent changes, as well as crisis', has allowed this to happen. We are on the brink of a new age in Tapani. I am the begining of that.

We also have Fondor Shipyards, Obulette Shipyards, and Tallaani Shipyards, and will be opening them to galactic business. We also have the reknown Mrlsst Academy, to which we will open admitance to Republic citizens in the next semester, as the current one has already begun. We also have the Mrlsst Center for Linguistic Studies, which will be immediatly available to the Diplomatic Corps. The Central Academic Hospital on Mrlsst will also be open immediatly to the medical sector of the Republic. In short, we have a good amount of educational opportunites that will open up for the Republic, unique to the Galaxy.

Now we come to what we need in return. Unfortunatly, ten years ago, a corporation known as the InterGalactic Mining Core, rose to power within Tapani Sector. Over time, they became more or less the working government of our Sector, as well as the primary employer of the Sector. When the Bastion Accords were signed, the corporation protested, and completely pulled out of Tapani Sector. A super-majority of our entire economic system was wrapped up within the IMC, and this move devestated us. We have record numbers of unemployment, debt, and bankruptcy claims. To be blunt, the Sector is currently sinked into a depression. It is the unfortunate, and silent, result of peace. I am not blaming the Accords for it...but the conqequence is undeniable. We need financial and economic aid, and help rebuilding some of our infastructure. It is perhaps this result, which was enabled by the nobles, that allowed my rise to this position. We have a chance to start over, and bring about great change within our historic and legendary Sector, and we would like the Republic to be a part of this.

As I remarked before, I do not oppose the application even though Mr. de Crion and I have considerably divergent views on certain issues. I would also point out to the Chief of State that the questioning of Mr. de Crion needn't continue in this way if there is no apparent opposition to him.

Again I ask:

Nute buys and sells classic starshipss. He placed an advertisement on the Holonet stating that he wished to buy Inter-galactic Mining Corps ships from the period of the Clone Wars and was prepared to offer good prices. He gave his station's coordinates and communicator number and said he could be contacted there during normal office hours, during weekdays and sometimes weekends. On Friday Pors took his IGBC Shuttle to Nute's station and he (Nute) offered 150,000 credits for it. Pors thought they were worth more and he declined the offer and left the shop. However, by the time Nute arrived back home Pors had decided to accept the offer of 150,000 credits and she posted a letter to him to that effect. At the same time Nute was posting a letter to Pors stating that he was prepared to pay 200,000 credits for the shuttle. Pors recived the letter the following day and immediately left a message on his stations answering machine that the ship was sold to Nute for 200,000 credits. On Sunday Pors changed his mind and left another message stating that he no longer wished to sell the classic shuttle.
On Monday Nute arrived at his station to find the letter and two communicator messages from Pors.
What advice would you give to Nute and Pors in these circumstances? What contracts would exist? (if any) And what would be the best steps they could take to resolve this? (within or without the legal framework).

I am willing to grant an extension of 24 hours, but unless Mr Kruus' question is answered within that time frame, Mr Crion's application will again be considered to be Rejected due to Lack of Interest.

My apologies for the delay Senator Kruus. I had to leave Coruscant due to a family emergency. And I apologize to the entire Senate for this delay. To answer your question Senator, the agreement to sell the shuttle for 150,000 is in writing, while agreement to the offer of 200,000 is merely a voice message. Unfortunatly for Pors, the agreement in writing would be legally bound contract, although a rather simple one. To Nute, I would say pursue legal action, as he has in his possession an agreement for the sale of the IGBC Shuttle for 150,000 credits. To Pors, I'm afraid she is in a very compromising position legally, and should this go to court, her best defense could be that the agreement isn't a full legal contract. Outside the legal realm, the two should meet, and negotiate on this issue.

While Mr Crion shows a dubious knowledge of contract law, this is not the role of a Senator. Voice messages are just as valid as written ones for contractual purposes, as is any agreement, in writing or not. Revocation can also be conveyed in such a fashion. Any agreement involving an exchange is a contract. Mr Crion also needs to bear in mind the limited significance of the Postal Rule in the circumstances.

As such Mr Crion is hereby permitted to enter the Senate with no opposition.
