| The Star Destroyer Marathon sat serenely in an empty area of space approximately between the planets Bandomeer and Phindar, which loosely formed a border with the Mandalorian Sector upon which the Marathon and its Captain were studious not to trespass (it was, in fact, currently in Republic space, which was now permissable under the freedom of movement provisions of the recent peace treaty). They were here, ostensibly, for scientific purposes; to plant sensor buoys to monitor the migration patterns of nebray mantas. Few, however, believed that this was their actual purpose. For it just so happened that these long range sensor buoys were deployed in such a manner as to keep an eye on Mandalore, which had remained belligerent to the Empire even after the peace. The inconspicuous sensor that the Marathon was now planting, gently, in space was but one of a network that spanned much of the Perlemian—or Imperial—side of the Mandalorian Sector. If Mandalore had in mind to attack the Empire, they would see it coming. They might not see many nebray mantas, however, as they were not common to this area of space. Its task completed, the Star Destroyer disappeared, noiselessly, into hyperspace. If the Mandalorians destroyed the buoys (which, it should be noted, would be vandalism of scientific instruments in New Republic space), they would simply be replaced at a later time, and for as many times as were necessary.
