Master Luke, I have located a boy, the same of which I spoke earlier, of a profound interest. He shows clear signs of strength with the Force, though strength untrained, and is dangerous in the best of circumstances. Also the boy has killed an Aqualish in self defense (so he claims) and I feel no trace of lie or maliciousness in him.

I confess that I am caught in a query: turn the boy into the authorities, which is the lawful and moral act, or take him to Yavin before this new administration can discover his identity and try to use him as a scapegoat. With the loss of Senator Fitzgerald I fear that things will swiftly move further against us.

Please advise Master, I shall do what you think most proper.

Master Alies,

What is proper is not always what is right, my friend, but in this case it appears to be so. If the boy's account of events is true, as it appears to be, then the law will exonerate him. If his account isn't true, then it is ever the more prudent to turn him in. We must trust in the law. Once the boy is cleared, as I'm sure he will be, feel free to invite him for instruction at the Academy. Perhaps, if you vouch for his character to the police as you have to me, he will be that much more inclined to seek from us some training on the responsible use of his abilities and, one hopes, the development of his potential.

Best regards, and best of luck.

“With your pardon, Master, perhaps the gravity of the situation here has not yet reached your ears. Tings, as I feared, have begun to look quite alarming towards the Jedi. I fear that no matter which was I turn justice, as it was meant to be, will not be served. I am attaching a holo that may interest you. Please respond back quickly.”

Master Streen and I are agreed that this incident in the underlevels was unfortunate, especially insofar as it seems to have caused more unease and fear of the Jedi. However, the more the public sees that we do trust the law, and abide it, the more the public's fears will be put to rest. That is why it is all the more important now that we are seen to be working with the authorities as diligently as we can.

I'm sure that there will be no problems with this Aqualish affair, certainly not of the sort that has been in the news of late. The security forces will have some questions for the boy, no doubt, but assuming he is innocent he will not be detained for more than an hour at most. Not with the likes of Jedi Master Alies vouching for his character. I trust you to make the right decision, Raztlain. May the Force be with you.
