| Let them figure out their own problems, there's no reason for the Republic to get involved. Expecially if the Kalevalans are being provocative towards the True Mandalorians. I vote Against.

Senator of the Corellia Sector

| The New Mandalorians are being in no way provocative Mr Halcyon, you are mis-informed, we are being politely and tolerantly assertive of our Ancient Rights going back over 700 years.

| I am not sure that I feel the need to justify my vote for this measure, as some of the previous senators have drolled on about something that should not be turned into as huge of a political issue as they are making it out to be. When it comes right down to it, the Republic is here to help who needs it. I support President Gavrisom's treaty, and vote in favor, without reservation.
Ilanah R. Thanatos Senator of Chandrila

| I agree with Senator Thanatos, and Mr. Cratwright's humble words have persuaded me that Kalevala's relations with the New Republic are not Mandalore's concern. The only circumstances under which it would be Mandalore's concern is if the "Old"/True Mandalorian regime was, in fact, sovereign of the Mandalore Sector and thus have some lawful authority here. This is an argument that Mandalore has not (yet) made to my satisfaction. It appears that Kalevala has been and is a sovereign planet, and if it wishes to pursue relations with us, I believe that is its right (especially if it feels that its sovereignty is in danger). None of this is intended to disrespect Mandalore, or the Senators who oppose this treaty. I believe, and so does Senator Emerest, that understanding between peoples and cultures is essential to conflict resolution. My colleagues will know that I, more than most, make a point of being sensitive to cultural differences and interests and I'm pleased to see Senator Crion moving in this direction as well. However, it is possible to move too far in this direction. There's a point when it becomes appeasement. When we've come to a point that a planet is being denied its rights out of sensitivity for another culture, we have gone too far. I vote in favor of this treaty, and I hope it will be a prelude to peace and understanding in the Mandalore Sector.

| If this were a simple trade agreement, I would be able to happily accept it. To simplify my concerns and crush them into a phrase, this is too fast, too soon, and without enough knowledge of the current situation. I would rather see there be a simple trade agreement and committee formed to study the Mandalore Sector situation, rather than form a full fledged alliance at this time.

| Mr Crion.... I am not sure if you read the Treaty, perhaps not. This is a simple statement of recognition of a free Government and trade agreement, not a binding military alliance.

| At first glance, yes. But there are political and governmental portions that are tied into this treaty as well, thus taking it beyond the measure I am at this time uncomfortable with.

| This treaty is ratified, by a 2/1 majority. With the friendly Amendment from Senator Fowlkes.
