Background:
Born on Coruscant to middle-class parents, Dalath Jeram was by and large ignored as a youngling, as both mother and father worked long hours in a manufacturing plant. At the age of ten, Dalath's parents perished in a horrific mechanical accident, leaving the child without relatives, or at least none willing to take him in. Homeless, for the most part, Dalath found a temporary respite among other down and out children who roamed in packs, staying alive by wits and ferocity. Petty crime and theft had a way of getting larger as the children grew older, however, and armed robbery was not something taken lightly by the Republic. At the age of fifteen, Dalath was sentenced to seven years in a penal institution for the aforementioned crime. Oddly enough, a certain senator from Naboo intervened at the last moment, earning the first slice of loyalty that would later grow into a near-fanatic belief.
By the onset of the Clone Wars in 22 BBY, Dalath was twenty-two, a pet project much like Darth Maul, though kept in 'reserve.' Instructed by both Darth Sidious and, to a greater extent, Darth Tyranus, Dalath rose to a point of proficiency that allowed him to transcend his former name and earn the appellation of Darth Novak.
While Darth Tyranus, acting as Count Dooku, driving force of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, was waging war against the Republic in the open, Novak was used from the shadows. A killing here, a mysterious disappearance there, many of his deeds were chalked up to Grievous or Durge, who were the more public and brutal taskmasters of the C.I.D. Yet there was a standard that set Novak apart from the others: a blind, fanatical loyalty to Darth Sidious above all else; the man who had taken him from the depths of Coruscant and taught him power beyond his dreams.
In 19 BBY, slightly prior to the Battle of Coruscant, the Confederacy of Independent Systems managed to capture a number of Republic vessels, most notably a pair of Venator-class vessels and twice the number of Acclamator ships. While Darth Sidious had already planned out the Clone Wars as well as the subsequent fall and defeat of the Jedi Order, his 'allies' among the Confederacy were not in on the plan; nor was Darth Novak, who was set to be replaced by Anakin Skywalker.
Aimed as a subterfuge (and one that would likely fail, in the eyes of Sidious), Darth Novak was sent with a small attack force that was meant to confuse the Republic and throw them into disarray by the 'use' of their own forces against them. Modified Republic fighter craft, having undergone changes that equipped them with droid brains, much like the Vulture and Tri-fighter craft, would be launched from the captured Venator while droids themselves, using the Acclamator vessel would launch a direct assault against the Senate building and the Jedi Temple itself. The attack was doomed to failure from the start, of course, but the result of thinning the numbers of Jedi, as well as ridding himself of an extra 'apprentice' would serve both of Sidious' ends. Of course, the chance that Novak could be captured was a reality. To that end, a trap was laid aboard the flagship that Novak would use: a cryopod that would freeze him and keep him on board, to die when the vessel was inevitably destroyed.

Unfortunately, things did not turn out as they should have. The trap itself ensnared Novak, the only living being on board any of the vessels, without a hitch, the ships that had been slaved together were damaged when they made the jump from the Outer Rim to Coruscant to participate in the battle. One can only guess as to what went wrong; a faulty nav computer perhaps, or a burst of radiation. The result was that, once in hyperspace, there was no destination entered. The fleet was left where it was, seemingly for all time.
The Clone Wars came to a close as Palpatine had planned, and he went on to conquer, with Darth Vader alongside. In 4 ABY, the Emperor was defeated at the Battle of Endor. It was shortly thereafter that, perhaps by luck or by the will of the Force, certain mechanisms failed on the aged vessels traveling through hyperspace. One such mechanism was the cryo-seal on the tank in which Novak was slated to die within. Once 'out,' he was able to bring the flagship back to realspace, along with the rest of the fleet that was slaved to it, though his emergence was outside the Outer Rim.
Now, with a fleet of damaged and ancient vessels, Novak is left to discover what became of the battle he was sent to join so long ago, and the whereabouts of the man who trained him.

Background:
One of many droids who rolled off the assembly lines of Holowan Mechanicals, IG-113 was among the first to be trained by Grievous in the Jedi arts. capable of using a lightsaber but more adept with an electrostaff, IG-113 was given as a bodyguard and training partner early-on in Novak's life. The various damages that Grievous inflicted on his own IG-100 series droids were normally left unrepaired. Novak, however, took special care to replace any damaged limbs or sensors, wanting a droid that could operate at near-perfect functionality at any time.
