History:
Originally designed by the now-defunct Gallofree Yards as a long range cargo hauler, the Epsilon-class freighter proved to be a commercial disaster for the corporation and was quickly scrapped in favor of the more practical medium transport. The Phoenix is one of the few models produced, boasting a fully operaitonal turbolaser turret and four massive J-03 Titan engines that make up for a lack of firepower with an excess of speed.
Phoenix was originally part of a fleet of vessels used in colonization efforts on the Outer Rim, but it soon shared the fate of most of its bretheren and fell into neglect and disrepair. Originally, Aaron Ralws purchased the craft, naming it Red Light Express from its original name of Valkyrie, from a secondhand dealer on Nar Shaddaa, and put considerable investment into maintenance and restoration. Among the new additions to the ship is a sophisticated cooling system for its only weapon, which was easily prone to overheating, and an advanced avionics package and sensor system.
Most of the structure of the craft is comprised of the engine assembly, while the interior houses a modest command bridge and storage compartments, as well as several bunks, private quarters, and a small kitchen and galley for the crew. The cargo bay, when not being used in its original purpose, is usually used as a shop of sorts, selling various products the crew aquires over time, including parts that have been replaced.
In 7 ABY, Sierra Cole was on Nar Shaddaa, looking for a new ship after loosing hers in a fight with pirates, when she ran into Rawls, finding out he was looking to sell his ship. She was given a tour, liked the ship, and bought it for 25,000 credits. The next day, when she brought her surviving crew over to the ship, they found it stripped of every modification made to the point where the ship didn't even run. Immediatly, her entire crew abandoned her, with Silas Vance, her co-pilot, and Lannik Halcyon, her mechanic, the exception.
After restoring the ship, they took off, with Halcyon being killed by a bounty hunter on their trail, who was killed in the process. Once landing on Corellia, they changed the name to the Phoenix. Over time, with all but her co-pilot changing, from a full crew to just her and him, they did any job they could get their hands on, allowing them to build up credits, restoring the ship to Rawls former modifications, and in some cases, vastly expanding them, including a new weapons system, and practically redesigning the engines to double their output.
