Personality: Adoven’s personality marries Chandrilan arrogance and Rhinnalian elitism. Although he may be perceived as a pompous and smug person, he nonetheless manages to come off as a thoroughly decent and compassionate individual. He loves his job and wants the best for everyone, scrupulously despising the xenophobic and totalitarian ways of the Empire and its Remnant. He is somewhat of a workaholic and often distances himself from people for fear of getting too attached to them. Adoven also lives a private life and is a mostly secretive person. He is rather prone to anger and is a witty and often sarcastic person with a dry sense of humor. He prides his intelligence and is usually calm and calculating, however this composed demeanor will be thrown to the wind if insulted or engaged in a fight.
Miscellaneous: Adoven is an excellent marksman having received weapon training as a child. He is well versed in the etiquette and protocol of different human cultures but still requires a protocol droid when interacting with alien species. Although he has more of a penchant for a refined life and indulges in "high culture", he often ventures to the Uscru Entertainment District to frequent more obscure and not as well known establishments.
History: Adoven Ryner was born in Hanna City to an old, noble, wealthy and influential family. His father Damas was the head of the Senate Intelligence Oversight Committee and his mother Elsa (née Nebard) was the daughter of Drax Nebard, one of the major Rhinnalian business magnates. His life was one of luxury and refinement, but his family was never too excessive, shallow or opulent. As with the Chandrilan tradition, the Ryners owned a considerable and majestic garden where a diverse variety of flora bloomed. The garden is still open to the public today and is a popular spot for young lovers. The Ryners were also close friends with the Mothma family and both became to regard the other as an extension of their respective families.
Adoven was privately tutored until he entered the Gladean Academy of Chandrila located in Hanna. His friendship with the older Jobin Mothma blossomed while at the Academy and Adoven was a happy and carefree teenager who aspired to become a HoloNet announcer or a HoloDrama star (much to the displeasure of his parents). He graduated top of his class and subsequently decided to move from home to attend the University of Rhire on Rhinnal. He was living the best of life until tragedy struck… Upon the dissolution of the Imperial Senate, Damas Ryner was arrested on grounds of being a rebel sympathizer and informant. He was escorted away by Stormtroopers and imprisoned in an unknown location to be tortured in the hopes he would reveal his association with the Alliance and disclose any information he might have given away. He held his tongue and refused to speak, preferring to die rather than cooperate with his captors. He was therefore executed on Palpatine’s orders and any Imperial involvement in his "disappearance" was disavowed. Elsa Ryner’s health slowly deteriorated after her husband's death and she herself passed away of unknown causes not too long after.
Adoven quickly succumbed to depression and would most likely have left school had it not been for Professor Jarles Vansis. Vansis helped him cope through the ordeal as best he could and took it upon himself to avoid that such potential be wasted as he knew Adoven was destined for greater things in life. Adoven was also now in control the vast family fortune and gave large sums of money to Mon Mothma in support of the Alliance. He quickly found out that living on Rhinnal under the Imperial regime was tougher than he had anticipated and his only form of solace came in subtly defying the Empire in any little ways he could. The Alliance would soon get in contact with him to deliver more somber news, that of the death of Jobin Mothma during the Battle of Hoth, a man Adoven had loved and admired like a brother.
He traveled to Chandrila as often as he could but found it happened less frequently as time went by, being far too busy to do so. He graduated four years later and was once more top of his class, earning himself many honors. Adoven was now able to find himself a proper job thanks to his extensive and upscale education. He found himself hired by the New Republic as a Diplomat due to his background and schooling (and most likely thanks to Mon Mothma herself) and spent a great deal travelling as an Ambassador for the New Republic.
Adoven holds the position of Diplomat to this day and his current duties have him taking on assignments from the New Republic Diplomatic Corps, the Chief of State and the executive or legislative branches of the New Republic.
