Description: Alastair Trumboldt (b. 45 BBY) is a prolific, but unemployed engineer and starship designer who resides on Rendili. He is unmarried, and has no children. He has a doctorate in engineering from the University of Coruscant and has worked, most recently, for Rendili StarDrive. He is best known for collaborating with Walex Blissex on the design for the Republic-class Star Destroyer.
Trumboldt was born on Bescane, demonstrated a proficiency and understanding of mechanics and mathematics at an early age, and studied engineering at the Imperial Academy. He served, briefly, as a technician in the Imperial Navy, and began his career in starship design under his father's tutelage at Galentro Heavy Works, based on his homeworld. Trumboldt, a manic depressive, had personality conflicts with his fellow designers, especially after the traumatic death of both parents in a hyperspace accident.
The following year, he resigned from Galentro Heavy Works and emigrated to Coruscant (known, then, as Imperial Center). He studied for, and was awarded a Doctor of Sciences degree, for engineering, from the University of Coruscant and tried unsuccessfully tried to found his own aeronautics company, specializing in custom components and designs. Trumboldt's firm closed in its infancy, but his designs and talents did not go unnoticed; he was contacted by Rendili StarDrive, offered a position, and accepted.
Trumboldt expressed no interest in politics or the war. He resided and worked on Rendili when, in 10 ABY, it joined the New Republic and he, thus, became a citizen. His employment at Rendili would end without distinction, however, as once again he found himself in conflict with other engineers and, especially, project managers. He became paranoid, domineering, obsessed with his work, and sensitive to criticism. He considered himself a genius, persecuted out of jealousy, and deserving of promotion and praise.
His eventual power struggle with Walex Blissex—a far superior designer, and more influential—instigated his termination from Rendili StarDrive. In the intervening years, Trumboldt has become a recluse. When the Bastion Accords, in 19 ABY, permitted freedom of movement between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, he began frequently visiting his homeworld of Bescane (although Rendili remains his permanent residence).
Today, in 20 ABY, he is bitter from a career that he regards as a failure, although he conceals this with an affected sense of humor (this varies, with his mood). He continues to design starships prolifically but does not release them, fearing that his greatest work is behind him. Despite this, he remains desperate for the recognition, respect, and notoriety that he feels he has always deserved and never recieved.
