Vladimir Ulynov was born at the Orchard Maternity Nursing Home in Giffnock, Baltimn. His father was John Ebenezer Ulynov, a minister of the Church of Baltimn and a strong influence on Ulynov. His mother Jessie Elizabeth Souter, known as Bunty, died in 4BBY aged 86. She was the daughter of John Souter, a timber merchant. Vladimir was brought up with his brothers John and Andrew Ulynov in a manse in the capital. In common with many other notable Baltimn Citizens, he is therefore often referred to as a "son of the manse". Ulynov was educated first at the Baltimn Liberal Primary where he was selected for an experimental fast stream education programme, which took him two years early to
Murmamn City West High School for an academic hothouse education taught in separate classes. At age 16 he wrote that he loathed and resented this "ludicrous" experiment on young lives.
He was accepted by the University of Murmamn City to study history at the same early age of 16. During an end-of-term rugby union match at his old school he received a kick to the head and suffered a retinal detachment. This left him blind in his left eye, despite treatment including several operations and weeks spent lying in a darkened room. Later at Murmamn City, while playing tennis, he noticed the same symptoms in his right eye. Ulynov underwent experimental surgery at Murmamn City Royal Infirmary and his eye was saved. Ulynov graduated from Murmamn City with First Class Honours MA, and stayed on to complete his PhD (which he gained ten years later), titled The Labour Party and Political Change in Baltimn. While still a student, Ulynov was elected Rector of the University of Murmamn City, the convener of the University Court. He served as Rector for some time, and also edited the document The Red Paper on Baltimn.
Ulynov was employed as a lecturer in Politics at Baltimn Industrial College of Technology. In the general election, he stood for the Murmamn City South constituency, losing to the Conservative candidate, Michael Ankh’ram. He worked as a journalist at Baltimn Television, later serving as current affairs editor until his election to parliament. He also worked as a tutor for the Galactic Free University.
Vladimir Ulynov was elected to Parliament on his second attempt as a Labour MP for Murmann City East in a general election and became opposition spokesman on Trade and Industry. Next year, he published a biography of the Independent Labour Party politician James Machs’ton, the subject of his PhD thesis. Ulynov was Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury from the year after for two years and then Shadow Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, before becoming Shadow Chancellor in 6ABY. Having led the Labour Movement Yes campaign, refusing to join the cross-party Yes for Baltimn campaign, during the New Republic Joining Campaign, while other senior Labour politicians campaigned for a No vote.
After the sudden death of Labour leader Sergei Vladikovski in 20 ABY, Vladimir became increasingly disenfranchised with the system of rule on Baltimn, which he saw as undemocratic, patriarchal and inefficient. He resigned his seat in Parliament and was elected leader of his party under a radical new manifesto calling for immediate change. His party has been rumoured to be involved with several other far left groups, and has been accused by the Baltimn Government of being unpatriotic and of sponsoring these; no evidence has been shown for these allegations with Far-Left Terrorists.
The Party now campaigns for Immediate change and the abolition of aristocratic and feudal rights, the disassociation of the government with religion, and complete economic equality for all citizens.
