Well I discussed this idea for a sort of odd game with Jace a while back and figured this story warranted it. Basically the goal is to find real news stories which are just down right strange or out there. This was back during the birds incident nearby where I live around new years but I never got around to doing it. However this story kind of revived the idea and so I figured what the heck just have some fun. And feel free to poke fun at the stories as well after all this is all meant to be for humor and laughs.

So Ill open this up with the soon to be coming, real-world version, of Jurassic Park tongue

Scientists trying to clone, resurrect extinct mammoth

In short, these scientists from Japan(of course, anything horrifying must come from there), Russia(good vodka), and the US(No excuses people you had to of seen the movie!), are planning to take the DNA from preserved tissue cells of a Woolly Mammoth and insert them into the egg cell of an African Elephant which they hope will create a viable embryo which will then be placed inside of a female elephant for delivery.

Talk about news of the weird, check out this article I've highlighted from 2000 about the Taliban: http://news.google.com/newspap....&hl=en. While you're at it, flip through the rest of that newspaper, which is actually from January 1, 2000. It includes Y2K stuff, Vladimir Putin becoming President of Russia, and, what surprised me the most, a lot of optimistic "new millennium" stuff about humanity living together in peace, as one global community. As a quote in one of the articles says, "You feel perhaps, peace among men is a possibility." Weird!

I remember some of that optimism, very vaguely, from when I was 12 years old, but I guess the reality that ended up following in this pretty rotten last decade just sort of demolished it all from my memory. It really was a moment in time, as I read about it now. A fleeting one.

After that cloned woolly mammoth dies, they'll probably say "Screw it man, lets go bowling." except if it is on shabbos.

I never thought it'd be possible for me to get tired of The Big Lebowski, but I'm getting close.

The movie The Big Lebowski, I could never get tired of. But that's just me.

Want more news of the weird? Apparently, Seth Rogan and George Lucas had a sit down with one another, and according to Rogan, Lucas legitimately believes the world will end on December 23rd, 2012. Looks like were in for another two years of the canon being slaughtered and no live-action TV series. Just going to have to live with The Clone Wars and The Force Unleashed III (which WILL be released on that particular date and make all Star Wars fans cry in agony and pain), in which Starkiller time-travels and is found to be Vader's daddy. Talk about some baby-daddy drama.
