Well, I thought I'd post some guidelines which might help you get a request approved.

The Anaxes War College System shall be used as a reference and so here's a set of it's categories.

Corvettes: Ships of roughly 100 - 200 meters length
Frigates: Ships of roughly 200 - 400 meters length
Cruisers: Ships of roughly 400 - 600 meters length
Heavy Cruisers: Ships of roughly 600 - 1000 meters length
Star Destroyers: Ships of roughly 1000 -2000 meters length

Speed

(average middle of the road figure - Should be exceeded only with explanation as to why this craft should be higher. Clearly there will be many exceptions to this rule of thumb but it provides a good average.)
Fighters and similar: 100 MGLT for fighters, 80 MGLT for bombers or shuttles
Corvettes: 50 MGLT (Faster in the case of ships built for speed)
Frigates: 40 MGLT
Cruisers: 30 MGLT
Heavy Cruisers: 20 MGLT
Star Destroyers: 50 MGLT - The ISD and similar sized craft seem to hit some "optimal ratio" of engine to size and so appear to be generally faster than smaller classes.

Weapons
Warhead Launchers - Keep an eye on numbers and try to keep magazine numbers down. Management seems to view un-favourably requests for small craft carrying more than 10-12 Torpedoes or Missiles.
Turbolasers - Specify light, heavy or standard if possible. Try and keep away from turbolasers on fighters or bombers.
General - Try to keep vessel armament -in line- with or at least proportional to that found on average canon craft. If not - explain where the extra power comes from.

Crew
Keep the numbers similar with canon ones for the same length or explain why they are different. Sure you can have the craft run by Astromech droids like Queen Amidalas - no reason why not but do talk about it smile

The best rule of thumb for all areas: If it exceeds the average seen in similar canon vessels, set out clearly why :)
