Just re "slicing" its fair to assume most military craft have an electronic countermeasures suite and you know, pretty darned good anti-virus software.
It should also be noted that remote slicing isn't visible in a tactical setting with the Canon during our period. Thus systems specifically designed to defend against a system which they dont know about IC yet seems a bit of a use of OOC knowhow?
As for anti-slicing systems onboard ships - not much way to subvert that really, apart from a big lock on the intersections of important data links within a ship. Oh and a big tip.

Hacking is done mostly via access to data cables or ideally the aforementioned Scomp Links using Computer Spikes which seemingly invariably require a direct plugin.
The couple of references to remote implantation of programs in the period is either A. Over a comms channel thought to be secure (i.e. if someone has taken over your ship) or B. IG-88 doing his thang.

So my remote slicing by attempting to influence the workings of subsystems etc is new, isnt publicly known and isn't publicly available.
Thus any defenses constructed prior to an analysis of these systems cannot be guaranteed to protect against the system which they dont know about that Rothana is developing.
