I might have misunderstood, but when Jace and I discussed Baltimn, it seemed as if it would have already been included in the New Republic Senate and, as such, I did not intend to have a separate profile for a Senator from Baltimn because I didn't think it would be necessary. The creation of 'Jeph Stomwell' however, seemed as if it might be a good idea and, as such, I was playing him as an existing member of the Senate who, presumably, has remained rather quiet until recently.

Jace, if you have any objections or want me to change it, let me know.

The only difference with my original plan was that Baltimn would be a diplomatically unaligned planet, rather than a formal member of the New Republic, and thus would have an Ambassador rather than a Senator. This would have the benefit of no application process (or detailed background check; remember that Ambassador Furgan got close enough to Mon Mothma to throw poison in her face, which was not very subtle). The drawback of this is not having a vote, although if you were around for the old days of Ambassador Oriel you'll recall he caused quite a stir in the Senate, many, many times, even without a vote.

I can't say I recall those days. Probably before my time. If you like though, I'll change Stomwell to an Ambassador pending formal acceptance (possibly) or I can leave Baltimn unaligned. It's up to you, really.

Your call, really. The character is all yours. Just that if Baltimn is an official New Republic member, there probably should indeed be an application for its Senator (an annoying formality, I know). Having the planet unaligned and changing Stomwell to an Ambassador, however, means you're good to go.

By the way, Chuck Hagel is awesome. I went to a lecture of his once. I'll always remember him on C-SPAN telling the other Senators "you want a safe job, go sell shoes!" Let's see if I can find it, actually.. here it is. Those were good times, 2007.

I'll leave him as ambassador. What are the limitations?

Really none. An Ambassador (or "Legate," as Jamie insisted I use the proper term) can comment on anything. He just doesn't have a vote.

Senatorial Legate, afterall, does sound much grander than "Senator"
