Terrorist Executed on Imperial Center
Imperial City, Imperial Center — In a public ceremony attended by thousands, the death sentence of Talri Nikani was carried out in the parade ground of the Imperial Palace earlier today. Typically used for military reviews and speeches to the masses, the parade grounds were the site of justice for 27 innocent Imperial lives lost late last year in a terrorist attack in Imperial Center's underlevels. In attendance were the Grand Vizier, Sate Pestage, and his venerable assistants, the Viziers, leaders from the Imperial Military Force's High Command, Imperial Navy Central Command, Imperial Army Central Command, the Imperial City Council, as well as select members of the Coruscant Security Forces, Imperial Intelligence, Imperial Security Bureau, and the joint Imperial-Tion Hegemony military force that captured Nikani. Also in attendance was Senator R.C.W. North (Imperial Center).
Emperor Palpatine, in a rare public appearance recently, presided over the ceremony.
On 13 Yelona of last year, a delivery speeder was driven to a market place and abandoned, the driver seeming to begin daily deliveries to the shops. However, a short time later, a bomb within the speeder was detonated, killing a total of 20 human Imperial citizens and 8 Stormtroopers in His Majesty's service in the blast. 52 others were wounded in various states in the blast as well. One stormtrooper was medically discharged from military service and later given a civilian role in the Empire's cloning facilities.
Following an investigation by CSF and ISB personnel, Nikani was identified as the terrorist, and placed on the Empire's Most Wanted List, staying in the top spot until the recent attack on Corulag by members of the Mighty Monnok, who have now taken the spot as a whole.
On 12 Welona, a joint Imperial-Tion Hegemony task force conducted a raid on suspected criminal activity concerning illegal salvage operations and a possible illegal arms factory over and on Raxus Prime. The Empire was tipped off by an anonymous individual, whose facts checked out following an Imperial Intelligence confirmation. Surprisingly, the individual running the operation was Talri Nikani who had converted a Lucrehulk-class Battleship into a mobile arms and droid factory.
In the raid, Nikani opposed the joint task force with countless droids from the Lucrehulk's complement, but was ultimately arrested, sadly with casualties being taken by both Imperial and Tion forces. Following an on-site interrogation, Nikani was transported to Imperial Center for a more thorough review.
His operation over Raxus Prime, which was impounded, was found to contain bomb-making materials consistent with the Imperial Center bomb. Following investigation of his facilities, it was found that he had plans for further attacks on Imperial Center as well as other major Imperial worlds, such as Chandrila, Brentaal, Anaxes, Dantooine, Naboo, Alderaan, Eriadu, Vjun, Deralia, and several military bases on Borosk. Nikani was deemed to be part of the unsuccessful Separatist Remnant, a dis-organized continuation of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and had attempted to work with countless other groups within and outside the Separatist Remnant. Most recently, he had unsuccessfully attempted to take the independent Gwori Shipyards and was recovering from his losses in the battle.
Since his capture and arrival on Imperial Center on 25 Yelona, officials have remained tight lipped about the investigation, due to the possibility of being able to locate several insurrectionist groups through intelligence gathered from the raid. "Unfortunately, all leads have turned up useless," said Imperial Intelligence spokesman Colonel Danyil Zapetta said of the effort, "Upon the raid, it seems anyone in contact with the Imperial Center bomber made sure to disappear. We will be going through intelligence that has been gathered from resulting operations, and will continue to vigilantly hunt down those who wish to threaten Imperial lives."
Following a rousing speech by His Majesty, Nikani was executed by firing squad.
