Background
Darius Vaughn was born on Tantra to an extremely wealthy and influential merchant family. From the beginning, he was tutored in a multitude of arts. Public speaking, debate, music and as most young boys, he had a love of sports. Taking an active interest in the family business as a teen, his shrewd business planning and cutthroat abilities as a salesman netted his family further monetary gains, making him the jewel in the family crown, so to speak. Despite the secession of Tantra from the Republic prior to the Clone Wars and his family's wish to remain apart from both Separatist and Republic sides, Darius choose to enlist, believing that serving alongside the regular men and women rather than accept a commission due to his schooling was the correct choice.
Having fought in several of the major battles of the Clone Wars and a multitude of smaller skirmishes, Darius finally accepted a battlefield promotion to Lieutenant and later to Captain. When the wars drew to a close, he returned to Tantra a hero, but a different man. Darius was harder; colder from what he had seen. His time on the battlefields had changed him much, but he returned to the merchant business with the same zeal he had shown destroying droids on the battlefield. With the Galactic Empire in charge of Tantra, Darius used his family's monies and connections to elevate himself to the status of a merchant prince and gain close ties with Tantra's governor. It wasn't long after that he self-titled himself the 'Prince of Tantra.' As he had no real concern with the running of the planet, the governor, perhaps oddly, allowed him to keep the title. His family's influential wealth and power were, after all, quite a boon to the icy planet.
What they could not know, however, was that Darius nursed a secret hatred for the Empire. He had been raised to believe the Jedi were good, trustworthy people meant to safeguard the galaxy. He'd mistrusted the Force, but when utilized as the Jedi did, it struck him as a tool for good. With his dissent of the Empire still hidden, Darius plots ways to aid any elements of the Empire willing to fight back.
With the advent of the death of his family, Darius has been forced to fulfill the role of owner of Vaughn Shipping Industries.
