Beating the Odds
Age 0 - 12

There is no exact record of when or how Karth came to reside at the Jedi Temple; those records burned along with many others during the events surrounding the Order's destruction. All he can remember is having been from Serroco, like many other students having been taken from his family and introduced into a life of study and complete devotion to the will of the Force. Even at a young age, Karth found himself ostracized from his peers for a number of reasons. He was taller than most, almost comically so, and possessing a slight stutter problem that often left him the butt of ridicule. More so than that, Karth's Force potential, while existent, was somewhat lacking in comparison to other Initiates, paling in comparison to the likes of Anakin Skywalker and Ferus Olin, among others. It was this very handicap that drove him, however, he spent as much time as he possibly could training, researching and meditating, slowly catching up to the rest of his age group around the time of his twelfth birthday.

By this time, Karth's skills as a warrior had increased substantially, the result of years and years of study under the tutelage of the Battlemaster Anoon Bondara; however despite his efforts his overall mastery of the Force still fell short of many a master's standards. Going into his twelfth year of life, it seemed De'Qora was destined to a life spent in the AgriCorps, a respectable, albeit pitiable calling for many Jedi. There was one master, however, who took note of the young Jedi's work ethic, and that master was none other than Silas Cairne. Cairne, a decorated Jedi famous for training a number of prodigious students in his time, was expected to one day sit on the Jedi High Council, and as such had chosen to abstain from training any further apprentices for a number of years. De'Qora, in his mind, was a special case: a child who, while lacking in talent, compensated with a sharp wit, unwavering determination and staunch adherence to the Jedi Code. In Karth he saw a challenge, one final mind he could sculpt before he sat on the Council, and as such took the boy as his Padawan, much to the surprise and chagrin of his peers.

Their relationship didn't exactly start off on the right foot. Silas was a harsh tutor, often overworking the boy to the point of exhaustion. While Karth looked to him for comfort and guidance, instead he found only discipline and emotional distance, a method of teaching most uncommon among Jedi. However, judging by Cairne's previous students, if executed correctly it could shape a young, eager mind into a Jedi Knight of tremendous skill and respect. And so Karth, rather than giving in, sought to improve himself even further. He trained harder, studied longer, and soon developed a keen eye for both scholarly aspects and military strategy, his talents starting to rival those of Jedi ten years his senior. In time, the pair came to a quiet understanding, and eventually warmed up to each other. In the coming years their exploits would gain galaxy-wide renown, and in his master's image, Karth would eventually become one of the most respected Padawans in recent memory.

Tragedy on Bellassa
Age 17

The year was 27 BBY, and the seeds of rebellion had been sowed throughout numerous systems. The Separatist Movement was gaining momentum, and the Republic found itself on its heels, calling more and more on the Jedi Order to settle disputes and enforce the will of the Senate. On the peaceful planet of Bellassa, a faction of Separatist sympathizers had gained a foothold in the planet's parliament. Fearing they would lose the entire system, the Senate once again turned to the Jedi for help. They responded with surprising efficiency, sending a pair of their finest to settle the matter in peaceful fashion; Master Atrya Kyza'an and her Padawan, Daneira Farris. Both were deemed competent enough to negotiate some sort of truce between the loyalists and secessionists; unfortunately, within weeks of arriving on the planet's surface, the pair vanished, leaving behind no trace of their arrival. Concerned, the High Council called in yet another pair, whom'd dealt with similar investigations before: Silas Cairne and Karth De'Qora. By this time, Karth's training was drawing to an end, and soon he'd be deemed ready to undergo the trials for Knighthood.

What awaited them on the planets surface dwarfed any of their expectations. After foiling an assassination attempt on the secessionist Chancellor, Crasus Gratus, Karth gave chase and eventually cornered the attacker, whom then revealed herself to be the missing Padawan, Daneira. She explained to him the many undercurrents of greed and corruption that had wormed their way into the Bellassan parliament, and within hours Chancellor Gratus launched a coup d'état, murdering Parliamentary Leader Razira and seizing political power for himself, capturing Silas in the process. Karth and Daneira (or "Dani", as he came to call her) barely escaped with their lives, rendezvousing with a number of loyalist soldiers and retreating into the countryside. Weeks passed, and Gratus' hold on the planet grew tighter by the day, his armies wiping out pockets of resistance worldwide. Desperate, the Padawans soon took matters into their own hands, launching a surprise attack on the Parliamentary building and attempting to depose Gratus.

It was soon revealed that the Chancellor was not, in fact, the true mastermind behind the plot. His retainer, a Zeltronian Force-sensitive named Sevira Tasale, admitted to using her superior mastery of mind control to effectively make Gratus into her puppet. Her ultimate goal was to seize political clout and side with the Separatists in time for Count Dooku's upcoming war on the Republic. While Dani led the loyalist forces in securing the city, Karth pursued Sevira into the bowels of the Parliamentary building, cornering her in the holding cells and engaging in a fierce duel. While a competent duelist, De'Qora ultimately proved her better and ordered for Tasale to stand down. In some last-ditch attempt at freedom, she then revealed her contingency plan: having wired explosives throughout the cities' vast sewer network. The resulting detonation nearly destroyed the capital, killing thousands upon thousands of civilians. Enraged, Karth drove his saber through Tasale's chest, cutting her life short.

Hours later the dust finally settled. The loyalists, through the combined efforts of the Jedi and their own resolve, managed to capture and/or rout the majority of Gratus' soldiers. Ussa was freed, albeit the damage done to the city would take years to repair; and deep within the holding cells of the Parliamentary Building, Karth finally found himself reunited with Silas. The elder Jedi, while alive, was anything but well. Weeks of continuous torture and interrogations had all but eradicated his strength. This, combined with the massive amount of trauma he'd experienced from the sudden death of so many innocents, had all but driven him completely insane. He was dying, painfully and quickly, and Karth knew that if he didn't act he would lose his master completely. And so, against his better judgement, he placed all hope on one single gambit: a Flashburn. Flashburns were a rare occurrence, afflicting those greatly attuned to the Force. 'Twas a memory break, of sorts, when a Jedi's mind experienced an unbearable traumatic experience their minds would instinctively block out or completely remove that memory completely. Often times, it would save their lives; and it was this that De'Qora was betting on.

The technique involved was one he'd studied in secret for years; very few Jedi ever managed to successfully induce a Flashburn in the mind of another; and even then, those successes were only achieved with fully-sane subjects. Still, he had to try, lest Silas continue to wither and die right before his eyes. Sadly, with Karth's relative inexperience in such a procedure, things went horribly wrong. Attempting to forcibly block part of his Master's memory instead completely shattered what semblance of sanity Cairne had left, essentially lobotomizing the elder Jedi and leaving him but a hollow shell of the man he once was. His Padawan was horrified, guilt drove him to tears, and with a heavy heart, Karth knew what he had to do. And so, with a anguished roar, student drove blade through his master's heart, sparing him an even crueler fate as naught but a husk.

Rise to Prominence
Age 22-24

Guilt continued to plague him in the years following the Bellassa incident, his nightmares growing in both frequency and intensity as the years flew by. To him, it felt like only a day ago, and before he knew it, Karth had passed the Jedi Trials and become a fully-fledged Jedi Knight. The memory of his long-dead Master continued to haunt him; but in some ironic fashion, also fueled him to become the best Jedi he could possibly be. Even at his young age, he'd displayed a maturity and wisdom far beyond his years, a far cry from the bumbling Initiate he was before, and even his formerly-antagonistic relationship with Dani had evolved. The two grew closer, their bond strengthening to the point where they'd spend almost every waking hour together, something that both impressed and concerned the Council. To them, it was a miracle Karth hadn't crumbled under the weight of his past demons, and even more so that he'd managed to find a niche within the Order and would only improve with time.

It was in the year 22 that the Clone Wars began; spreading across the galaxy like a brushfire and dragging the Jedi Order into the prolonged conflict they'd hoped to avoid. Where Karth had once struggled to find his place amongst his peers, he now found himself thriving in a military role; his tactical genius winning the Republic numerous victories and leading to his promotion to the rank of Jedi General at age 24, which was no small feat. At the side of many other talented Knights, such as Anakin Skywalker, Jace Varitek and even Daneira; Karth came to be considered the bright and shining future of the Jedi, a new generation of heroes set to carry the Republic through the conflict and into an age of peace and prosperity. Had they known of Karth's greatest secret, however, they might have thought differently.

He and Dani, having bonded over the death of Silas and their experiences on both Bellassa and in the war, had secretly begun a romantic relationship, their constant deployments to the farthest reaches of Republic space putting a strain on their affair, but not breaking it entirely. In Dani, Karth found solace from his guilt, a reason to keep on fighting, even after he became disillusioned with the Republic. It was only because of her insistence that he continued to serve, in the hopes that, once the war was over and they were no longer needed, they could leave the Order and start a life somewhere. These years proved to be both the happiest and most trying of Karth's life, and unfortunately, were not destined to last. Fate had yet another dagger it wished to twist within freshly-closed wounds, and there was nothing either of them could do to avoid it.

Fracture
Age 25

Karth's next assignment wouldn't come for quite a while, and for several months he'd managed to find a temporary reprieve from the horrors of war; his relationship with Dani strengthening and his skills as both a Jedi and a military commander improving. To his friends; a noticeable calm seemed to have centered the boy, improved his focus, and this was probably the happiest De'Qora had been in his entire life. Sadly, in the waning days of the Galactic Republic, the order was issued for Karth and Dani to lead a small fleet to assist Master Dass Jennir on New Plympto, and so the Jedi couple took up arms once again. Their resolve certain, their bond as strong as it would ever be, the two young lovers steeled themselves for the battle to come.

By the time the Republic fleet had arrived, the battle had been raging for several days; and the cavalry wasted no time in joining with Master Dennir on the surface. Karth's more collected demeanor translated onto the field, and for the majority of the battle things were going exceptionally well; and then Order 66 was initiated. At the head of the battle, De'Qora had no real knowledge of the chaos erupting on the field before them; only through his bond with Dani did he realize the gravity of the situation. Watching in horror as the Clones they'd become so accustomed to aiding them turned deadly, his horrified gaze turned on Daneira, watching as she was besieged by clones and the LAAT-tank she'd been riding on erupting in a ball of fire. His rage boiled over, and soon Karth found himself beset by foes on every side; only through sheer force of will did he manage to escape the battlefield with his life. Still, though he lived, the damage had been done.

All of the pain, the suffering, the guilt came flooding back into his mind; breaking through the mental walls he'd erected against him and driving him into full-blown insanity. Desperate, Karth attempted the one thing he'd sworn to never again try, and as he was crawling through the dense forest of New Plympto he called out to the Force. It answered, and his gambit paid off, decimating his memories of Silas, of Dani, of any source of emotional trauma it could find, and effectively erasing their existence from his mind. The end result was him living, but living as a man who knew nothing save for he was a Jedi and he was being hunted, and it was only through the timely intervention of fellow Jedi survivor Dass Jennir that he escaped the carnage at all.

Broken, De'Qora limped back to the Nosaurian villages supported by Dennir, and found himself wondering what his next move would be. Through the holonet he soon learned of the destruction of the Temple on Coruscant, and knowing that he could not survive in such a galaxy, he bade farewell to Jennir and made his escape. Fleeing across the Outer Rim, he made his way to Rishi, settling on the outskirts of one of the major cities and starting life anew. Now, Karth lives the life of a recluse, having left his life as a Jedi behind him in favor of a simpler one as a farmer; though the memories of his past life never truly left. They exist now in his dreams, as a scattered collection of images and random memories too fragmented to piece together fully.
