Senator Bernard Oriel was raised in the high life of a Tapani-Vjunite noble, of an ancient family he was educated in the Tapani Sector before further being educated in the best officer school in the galaxy, the Carida Academy. This being thought enough education for a young gentleman he returned to his place of birth on Vjun aged 21 and took up a position as the head of the guard for his elderly Uncle Maximillion Oriel.
Remaining here for four years he saw service on the diplomatic mission his uncle had lead to Coruscant to help secure aid to help Vjun recover from its plight in the plague. Unfortunately, Uncle Max passed away from a stroke after a stressful meeting.
Being alone on Coruscant with the head of the family (his father) being incredibly displeased with him for failing to save the life of his uncle (even though he died of natural causes) he sought to redeem himself by enlisting as an officer in the Judicial Corps. As soon as the Clone Wars commenced he requested a commission with the Grand Army of the Republic. After strenuous lobbying from his mother's family (from the Tapani Sector) he was able to secure a position as an organic officer in the Galactic Marines.
Serving in a distinguished Capacity (albeit having little fondness for the mindless drone soldiers he commanded) across many warzones such as Rhen Var, Aargonar, Boz Pity, Mygeeto and Toola.
He gained multiple awards and citations including the Chancellor's Service Medal, Medallion of Honour and Medal of Valour. Known for taking exquisite care to protect human lives where possible he did show little regard for Alien or Clone life as he saw it as essentially expendable for the common good.
After the Clone Wars Oriel transitioned seemlessly into the Stormtrooper Corps, commanding the 1st Imperial Marine Legion which was posted to help pacify the dangerous former Separatist worlds, serving on Neimoidia and Druckenwell (as well as commanding large vexalliations on Capital vessels at various points and being a spokesman for the Imperial Marines).
Aged 38 Oriel had been appointed a General of the Stormtrooper Corps after his long and excellent experience, but chose to take requirement after agents from the Ruling Council expressed an opinion that he might be more useful representing his world in the Senate.
Retiring with honours from the Corps he returned again to Vjun for one year and during this position rose meteorically due to his status as a war hero. It was at this time he was rewarded by the Parliament with the Earldom of Malreaux (second creation) and the property and wealth which came with it. With this wealth and that of his family he was able to springboard through the ranks of the Parliament being appointed as Senator to the Galactic Senate.
Once in the Senate he has pursued a policy of strict adherance to the values of the Empire moderated with a strong dose of common sense. He is often seen speaking and legislating in favour of the humans of the Empire and their interests, and also in the interests of the Empire itself. He has taken strenuous moves to restrict dangerous weapons etc and has been vocal in his criticism of the disasterous tenure of Senator Veritas as head of the Defense Committee. He is noted as the most prolific legislator in the last two years, passing more legislation than any other individual senator.
Oriel's Father
Head of the influential (but declined) Oriel family he served loyally through the Clone Wars, sending his son and numerous servants to fight for the Republic. After the conclusison of the Clone Wars he was rewarded with a position heading Lord Vader's household as his Chamberlain and Castellan of Bast Castle.
During the Chateau Malreaux incident Oriel was unaware of what was going on (as was most of the Galaxy) due to the remote location of the castle. After the incident it was Oriel House troopers who first arrived to secure the house, at this stage it defalted to the state after the lady of the house was found dead - leaving the house extinct.
