Good morning gentlemen, ladies, and creatures of the Imperial Senate! I hope you have all enjoyed your time on your homeworlds and are ready to begin a productive year here on our glorious capital, and naturally I look forward to working with you all, once again, as the chair of the Senate. That said, the Senate is now in session! Before we begin, the first order of business is to present His Majesty's agenda for you for this term. In addition to measures of your own that you may propose, you are expected to address the following issues.

One. His Majesty, the Emperor, has declared former Senator Mon Mothma, of Chandrila, a traitor to the Empire for disparaging it, its leaders, and its officers in defiance of the Imperial Charter, as well as collaborating with the illegal insurgency on Chandrila against Imperial rule. The fact that she has gone into hiding rather than submit to Imperial custody and clear her name is surely proof of her guilt! His Majesty believes, therefore, that this traitor must be captured before she can foment resistance to our just and benevolent Empire. He has decreed that Mon Mothma's diplomatic immunity and travel documents have been formally revoked, and has authorized any and all means of bringing her to justice. The Senate is expected to pass a resolution in support of this decree and these new measures.

Two. The Unknown Alien Encounters (or "UAE") Orders are a set of outdated protocols from the Old Republic that prevent the Imperial Starfleet from "interfering" with primitive, supposedly "sentient" aliens that are discovered on far flung worlds—far flung worlds where insurgents and Separatists are most likely to hide. His Majesty firmly believes that the fleet must be allowed to defend the Empire and its people to the best of its ability. It should not be prevented from doing so just to protect some "sentient" fungus or other primitive, insignificant creature. Not when lives are at stake. His Majesty, therefore, expects the Senate to pass a measure repealing the Unknown Alien Encounters orders, to give our brave servicemen the latitude they need to keep us safe.

Three. In order to raise revenues for the Imperial treasury, the Senate is expected to approve the sale of outdated Imperial vessels—such as Venator- and Acclamator-class Star Destroyers, and Dreadnaught-class Heavy Cruisers—to worlds that are interested in purchasing these vessels for defense purposes. The Senate is also expected to approve additional funding for the construction of new Star Destroyers, support vessels, and certain other, classified construction projects. Senator Veritas, of Deralia, the chair of the Defense Committee, and Senator Romodi, of Corulag, the chair of the Imperial Military Oversight Commission, will spearhead these efforts.

Four. The Senate shall draft an ultimatum to Carratos requiring the planet's government to locate and detain any and all members of the Fallanassi—a dangerous, Force-sensitive cult similar to the Jedi, who are taking refuge on the planet—and transfer them to Imperial custody within no more than 60 days. If Carratos does not do so, the Senate shall endorse Imperial military action to bring these dangerous fugitives to justice and punish the government of Carratos for non-compliance.

Five. In order to protect alien species on Imperial Center from genuine prejudice, the Empire has, in recent months, relocated them to secure, alien protection zones that resemble the climate of their homeworlds (for example, species from arctic worlds are assigned to the planet's colder latitudes while those from hot, tropical worlds are assigned to the equator, etc.). These neighborhoods are thriving centers of alien culture, with unique architecture and statues commemorating alien heroes. These are neighborhoods that must be protected from outside interference. Therefore, the Senate is expected to pass a resolution providing to Moff Rainier Brandt and his government the funds and troops necessary to patrol the alien protection zones and ensure that they are impermeable. Senator North, of Imperial Center, will lead this effort.

Now, our second order of business. Senator Sir Reuke Cambrist, of Brentaal, has been appointed by His Majesty to serve as chair of the Commerce Committee. The Senator's knowledge of commerce and his firm support for His Majesty's trade and tribute policies has not gone unnoticed, or unrewarded. I congratulate him, as I'm sure the Senate will, on this appointment. And our third and final order of business. Please join me in welcoming to the Senate Mr. Tremaine Fowlkes, the new Senator of Telos IV, and Ms. Ilanah Thanatos, the new Senator of Chandrila. Welcome, Senators. I wish you well, and I will now administer the oath of office to you both. If you will, please face the Imperial colors and repeat the following:

"I, (state your name), do solemnly swear, under penalty of treason, that I will represent the people of (state your constituency) to the best of my ability, that I will bear true allegiance to the Empire, its Emperor, and its policies and principles, that I will uphold and abide the Imperial Charter, that I will preserve and protect the principles of the New Order, and that I will defend all of these from all enemies of the Empire, both foreign and domestic. So help me."

I would like to be the first among the delegates to welcome the two new Senators on the floor. I join the Honorable Sate Pestage, who has proved himself over these past nine years to be an excellent leader of the Senate, surpassed only by our benevolent Emperor himself. I thank the Grand Vizier for the warm welcome, and will personally work to see the Emperor's agenda fulfilled quickly, with this mission being my utmost priority, aside from, of course, the needs of the Defense Committee. All Hail the Emperor!

Viceroy Titus Veritas, House Veritas
Consul of the House of Lords

Former Senator of Deralia and the Tammuz Sector (50 BBY - 30 BBY, 18 BBY - 10 BBY)
Former Chairman of the Imperial Senate Defense Committee (18 BBY - 10 BBY)
