The Increased Transport Security Act

Senators, it has come to my attention that on many worlds, security for embarking and disembarking planetary flights for civilians and military personnel alike is reaching a stage of laxity that causes me worry, especially with the recent increases in terrorist acts such as those on Coruscant and Dantooine. As such, we must take preventative measures to ensure such acts are halted long before the terrorists and saboteurs can ever set foot on a planet.

Under this act, the following will take place:

1) Religious personnel are no longer exempt from a search of their person and belonging.

2) Military personnel, in or out of uniform, are no longer exempt from a search of their person and belonging.

3) Major spaceports will increase security staffing to assist and aid in the processes necessary for the above portions.

This in itself seems only to support, and possibly expand upon the starport guidelines found in my unanimously-passed Increased Security Act. Therefore, it is without question that I add my support in favour of the proposed measures here. Under no excuse should anyone be exempted from security checks, Religious, Military or otherwise.

I, too, vote in favor of this measure, complementing as it does Senator Lohden's security act.

Added security measures are a must with the constant threat of terrorist attacks to interplanetary commerce and transport. Commenor votes in favor of this bill.

This measure seems unlikely to fail, and with much of the Senate having spoken, the vote is closed. The bill passes unanimously. Thank you, Senator Ryuun, for proposing a set of guidelines that all worlds would be well advised to follow.
