Lost Heroes Memorial Construction Act

During the Clone Wars as well as the small skirmishes of Imperial forces against rebel forces across the galaxy, there have been those Imperial Soldiers who have, at the great cost of their personal life and limb, not only protected many of their men, but also have achieved great acts of heroism and even what many have called super human feats of courage. To those Heroes that we have lost in the line of battle who achieved these great acts at the cost of their own lives, and who left many of their fellow soldiers living to tell of their tale, I put forward an act that would construct on Coruscant a Memorial for those lost Heroes of the Empire who boldly show what it means to have courage in the face of death.

Lost Heroes Memorial Construction Act

Article I

This Act is centered towards the construction of a Memorial tomb or statue that would represent and embody those Heroes of the Empire from the Clone Wars and more recent skirmishes against Rebel forces, who gave their lives in extraordinary circumstances to ensure that those allies and civilians around them would be able to live.

Section I
The Act would allow for the Construction of a Memorial that embodies the Courage these Heroes or Heroins felt as they drew their last breath to save others, on Coruscant in an appropriate place of the city, that would be open to all those that wish to pay their respects to the deceased, human or alien alike.

Section II
The Act would allow all worlds who wish to give a memorial to the fallen Heroes or Heroines, a choice to donate money towards the construction of said Memorial, as well as offer labor or resources to help with the construction.

Section III
The Act would, under the supervision of the Imperial Military, create an "Honor Guard" position, whose duty would be the protection of the Memorial to ensure that no harm comes to it from outside sources.

An interesting proposal senator Kuriyoshi. I have a question tho and then I'll vote.

How would funding of this happen? Sure the empire can do it, but they are more worried about getting the galaxy in order.

I'm afraid I must oppose this measure.

I jest, of course. Naturally, I vote in favor of this good (and uncontroversial) proposal. I would also suggest to the Senator pro tem from Anobis that this memorial isn't likely to be too expensive, and should be well within the Empire's means to fund it. If there is any dispute on this point, however, I would be glad to personally donate the funds necessary (for its construction, that is). As a matter of curiosity, though, I wonder what Senator Kuriyoshi's thoughts are on who will design this memorial? I can volunteer quite a few fine sculptors from Brentaal, if you wish. I assume other worlds would be interested in participating as well, but I leave this decision to you and to the Senate.

Senator Slai-Fon, in the question of funding the construction of this Memorial, I would like to point out Section II.

Section II
The Act would allow all worlds who wish to give a memorial to the fallen Heroes or Heroines, a choice to donate money towards the construction of said Memorial, as well as offer labor or resources to help with the construction.

If the Empire itself would be unable to fund such a Memorial. Section II opens it to allow worlds who wish to donate funds towards the construction of the Memorial, in place of the full cost falling solely upon the shoulders of the Imperial Treasury.

As for the means of who will design the Memorial, it would only be fair that the greatest Sculptors and Artist across the Galaxy be brought together as a single working council that will look over designs. I would also like to put forward the possibility of having said council look over designs that would be submitted by the Children of the Empire. Call it a galaxy wide school project. How would the children celebrate and thank those who gave their lives so that they could enjoy peace in their time. The best designs chosen by the council would be brought together to create a truly unique and awe inspiring Memorial.

Telos IV would like to vote in favor of the proposal. This would be a good way to reflect the actions of our soldiers throughout the galaxy, defending the Imperial worlds with their own lives. That is something we cannot put a price on.

Its about time the senate showed some pride in this Empire. Pride and patriotism. Everyones quick to criticize Caamas, Carratos, etc.. but only a few like Senator Zarcaine show the Empire and its troops the gratitude they deserve for keeping our worlds safe first from Separatists, then jedi, now these terrorists that are showing up here and there. The clone wars may be over but the fight to keep this galaxy safe and secure isnt. Its a fight thats going to go on, thats going to take sacrifice from all of us, sacrifice of blood and treasure. there is honor in this, and I vote in favor of this bill that shows some appreciation of that fact.

Reasonable indeed. The vote is closed, and the measure passes unanimously. I will look forward to seeing this memorial in the coming months, first on flimplast, then on Imperial Center where it will assume an exalted place beside the other monuments and spires of this world, and will stand as a testament to the sacrifices that are made for us and, I hope, of the sacrifices that are expected of us in return, to keep our Empire safe and strong.
