| Okay, Gentlemen. Now that we've finished the Zarcaine business, with a Majority vote favoring to censure him. We can now get onto this.
I've offered Senator Thanatos a seat on the committee, and as a committee we shall discuss this. But first, I will allow Senator Thanatos to speak, giving us her views on ethic's so that we may decide if can be a fine decision to our little committee here. Without further ado, Senator, the floor is yours.

| Thank you, Senator Youngblood. You have been very polite and considerate, as always.
Ethics, gentlemen, is a branch of philosophy that addresses questions about morality such as what is right and wrong, and distinguishes the difference between good and evil, among other things. We may not always, or ever, agree, but I know that my voice on this committee would be an asset to not only you, but the issues that the committee is given to deliberate upon. Diversity on a committee such as this is a key factor.
That being said, I think that I would be a good addition to this committee, if for nothing more than to be a devils advocate and a different opinions on important matters.

| I'd like to ask Ms Thanatos a couple of questions.. firstly, I would like to ask her a controversial question.. It ought to be telling how she answers.,
To what extent can the wide discretionary powers exercised by Imperial government be reconciled with the principle of the rule of law? In situations where there is a conflict, which should be supreme?
Secondly, do you believe that the Declaration of a New Order can be said to accord sufficient recognition to the doctrine of separation of powers?

| Senator Oriel, those are both very good questions.
The law is above the powers of the government and should be followed by the government down to the letter of that law. The law was put in place by the Imperial Government, was it not? Why should they not follow it as well? Although, should the need arise, the Empire should be able to exercise these discretionary powers in case of extreme emergency.
As for your second question, yes. Does that clear up the question of my moral and ethical beliefs, as well as any question in regards to my loyalty to the Empire?

| Senator Thanatos has now answered my questions to my satisfaction. Senator Thanatos has evaded the questions themselves and seems to believe the rule of law = made law. This is not what I want to see from a committee member.
I vote against her membership.

| I've never been against Ilanah, she's as loyal to the Empire as any of us including me. I would proudly have her in my Imperial Enthusiasts Club on Eriadu (Except its for men only).. I only had a problem with the way the chairman was trying to force her on the committee without asking the committee. But chivalry aside I'm going with Hubert on this one, he's a smarter man than me.

| Unfortunately, gentlemen, I feel the need to withdraw from even being interviewed for this committee. There are other things that need my attention aside from this, such as the grand openings of the peds medical centers. I am sure with the moral and ethical values of everyone in this room, you could almost fill a teaspoon, and that should suffice.
And by the by...according to law, the Emperor or the Grand Vizier in his stead can appoint the head of a committee, and in turn the chairperson may choose his own committee members without the vote of the other members. Perhaps you should read up on your law? I would be happy to forward the document to you should you require it.

| A woman scorned, eh Hubert? Thing is I never said that Sly can't appoint who he wants. I never said that. I just thought it'd be nice to run the Ethics Committee ethically. Majority vote that is, with respect for the opinions of the committee members. Whether or not he can, its wrong for Sly to appoint whoever he wants without telling anyone. ANyway, looks like Ilanah isnt interested in the committee anymore so lets move on to something else? Sly, I think you should appoint a member of the committee as a "deputy " to be in charge when you're not on Coruscant, or if your busy, etc

| I am rather shocked by thhe suggestion that Chairman Slai Fon would ride rough shod over the democratic will of the Ethics Committee. I only hope that Senator Thanatos' words are simple barbs spoken in the anger at her rejection by a supermajority of the committee.
I too will be highly disappointed if Senator Thanatos attempts to influence Senator Slai Fon to any undemocratic decision.
I too would be interested to see a Deputy Chair appointed from the present committee!

Gentlemen, I'll take your words into consideration about the deputy, while I oversee problems on my home planet, and that of my neighboring ones.
