Dantooine Modernization Request

| Senator, I am merely offering a government subsidy to make the cost of this upgrade nearly unnoticeable on your planet's budget, and have asked in mere exchange, on behalf of the Imperial Military Oversight Committee, for Dantooine to give the Imperial Military Forces a plot of land upon which they may build a garrison. Perhaps I must bow to my opposition here, and submit to my age, but I fail to see the under-handed tactics in this proposal.

| A question for the Defense Council - is it affordable to garrison Dantooine at all? What is the need? Dantooine is showing itself ably equipped (with these arms) to protect itself. It seems to me like putting Imperial Forces on Dantooine is an expensive waste of time considering its population size. How many men do Veritas and his men suggest are sent? Surely the cost of these forces would mean Dantooine would be costing the Empire net money.

| I can see why Senator Ray would want to increase the defense of Dantooine a little bit. My world, Telos IV, is as important as Dantooine is to the Empire. My world had been attacked by the remnants of the droid army. Because of the whereabouts of Dantooine, it is possible there is going to be an attack. In fact, there may be an attack already being prepared for, I do not wish to see that happen to the world that rely mainly on agriculture. I believe Senator Ray is correct in requesting those defense, as those would be much better equipped to deal with various threats.
Telos IV remain in favor of the request.

| The land in question would not be used immediately, rather it would be prepared for future use, after a joint study can be conducted by the Defense Committee and Military Oversight Committee in relation to defense and security of the Raioballo Sector, regional Imperial forces, and all local forces within the sector. Most likely, the world would not be garrisoned until a Moff is placed within the Raioballo Sector, and it has been asked of Dantooine to allocate this land for Imperial use due to its location in lying on several hyperspace routes, thus easing the transportation of troop on- and off-world. Should it be deemed, however, that Dantooine can not be garrisoned in any efficient manner, then I have been told, the Empire will give the land back to Dantooine, with some form of compensation for the time spent in Imperial hands.

| Why does the defense council want to interfere in the defense affairs of Dantooine? There is no compelling reason to garrison Dantooine at this point.

| Why does the Imperial Military Oversight Committee (who you speak for - apparently) want to garrison a tiny agri-world of 300,000 men? I just fail to see the point and frankly see this as just being a waste of time and money to suggest. Perhaps because of the noted distaste the locals have for Deralians?

| Senators, please. I apologize for starting a fire, but this request is something that is not worth fighting over. I agree with Senator Oriel that a planet of 300,000 people is not of concern for anyone, but I'm sure there are other planets within the sector that can sustain a garrison. But again Senator Veritas, we can discuss this topic for another time. As for budget matters, I am well assured that Dantooine can make do with little to no damage to our budget.
