The Life Day Peace Accords

| Senators and Representatives, this is, as the people of Monor II refer to it, a "season of peace." I was pleased to see the planet dismantle—in dramatic fashion—its weapons of war, and I hope that other worlds will follow its example. But in honor of this "season of peace," one that is celebrated not just by the people of Monor II but the Wookiees of Kashyyyk and indeed many of us, I propose a peace accord of limited duration that worlds may voluntarily subscribe to, as follows; no party to this accord shall make war on another party to the accord provided no acts of war are necessary for the protection of a world's citizens or property, or in prevention of massacres, etc. This period of peace shall last until the 15th of next month, during which all parties to this agreement are encouraged to renew diplomatic relations with one another and secure permanent, bilateral peace agreements. Let there be no war during this period, Senators. And let us, as ever, strive towards peace. Naboo will sign the accord.

| Representative Vanden, it would appear that most worlds have faith in the Empire to preserve the peace it's won for them without having to bind themselves to chasmal "non-aggression" pacts such as this one. If there's no further interest in this pact I intend to close the discussion by the week's end.

| I admire this proposal, Reopresentative, though I also fully agree with Chairman Pestage's words. Nonetheless, Druckenwell will vote in favor of this act, as a show of goodwill.

| Pardon me, Grand Vizier, but I believe Representative Vanden is correct in bringing this proposal into motion. Yes, most Imperial worlds are already preserving peace without having to sign anything that would bind them to a such thing. But because of Deralia's actions, I believe it is necessary to enforce that no worlds would take similar actions. Telos IV votes in favor.

| Having consulted with the government of Ralltiir, I can report that it'll also sign this accord. Ralltiir has no quarrel with Naboo, Druckenwell, or Chandrila and would like to strengthen its diplomatic ties with these and other signatories of this accord in the spirit of this season.

| It being the 15th of the month and these peace accords having expired, I'd like to congratulate Representative Vanden on their resounding success. We're all quite grateful to him for bringing peace to the galaxy after ten long years of peace. Shall we move on now, Senators?
