| Senators,
With mixed emotions I must announce certain changes to the make-up of the Defense Committee.
Thus, henceforth.
Senator TuRot is appointed as a member of the Defense Committee in recognition of his continued and Loyal Service to the Emperor and his military experience.
Senator Augusta Aurelius "Queen Deralius III of Deralia" is appointed to a three month temporary position on the Defense Committee in order to expand her experience within the Committee System that she might further her career.
Senator Schmuel Kadram is likewise appointed to a three month temporary position on the Defense Committee in order to expand his experience within the Committee system that he might further his career.
Senator Kirkwood is released from his service as a Specialist Advisor due to budgetary constraints, it is felt by the Committee that to have a permanent specialist on our Rolls is not economically tenable at present. Senator Kirkwood is thanked for his efficient service from the Committee and has been noted on the minutes to be summoned as Specialist on a pro-rata basis (should he available to do so) if research or advice in his area of expertise is required. The Committee held and passed a resolution of thanks to Senator Kirkwood and expresses it's intent to consider him as a candidate for a permanent position once he has established himself in the Senate and as a Legislator to a larger extent.
Senator Lomen Ryuun is suspended from his duties (with pay) until the Ethics Committee expresses an opinion upon his recent conduct, after this time the Ethics Committee will discuss and then rule upon his future. The Defense Committee takes no view upon the matter at hand nor upon if a breach of Ethics has been made; however, it is felt inappropriate for a Committee officer to sit while the Senate Ethics Committee has been referred a matter regarding an alleged breach of Ethics regarding manipulation of the Committee as a whole.
All Committee Members, are encouraged to attend hearings and bring matters to the attention of the Chairman for debate. Non-Members are urged to attend hearings and may well be given the floor if they feel they have input to add. Enthusiasm and expertise will be rewarded and Senators who have interest in sitting upon the Defense Committee should (in addition to legislating on Defense matters) contact its Chairman for an informal chat to help guide them toward joining the Committee or one of it's Sub-Committees.
