I'm not the only one who's noticed Fowlkes going beyond his usual platitudes and flirting with sedition. He has been warned by multiple Senators including Senator Oriel and Senator Veritas and has persisted in his disgusting and slanderous words. Finally this:

Quote (Tremaine_Fowlkes)
It's not just Senator Zarcaine that doesn't have enough confidence in Imperial military and navy to do the right things. It's ordinary citizens serving the Empire. If you haven't heard one objection from them, it's because they are afraid of getting shot for simply speaking out.

I propose the following motion of censure

1. The Senate officially reprimands Tremaine Fowlkes of Telos IV for his disgusting and seditious words slandering the motives of the Imperial armed forces (army, navy, starfighter corps, stormtrooper corps, etc.) and the Imperial leadership (High Command, Ruling Council, the Emperor, etc.) accusing them of a willingness to murder Imperial citizens with no basis in fact whatsoever.

2. The Senate demands the apology of Senator FOwlkes and withdrawal of his words or face suspension from the Senate and lawsuits from the tens of hundreds of people he has slandered, amounting no doubt to hundreds of millions of credits in damages.

I vote in favor. Also, as an "ordinary citizen of the Empire" I recognize myself as an expert witness and will question myself if the chair will indulge me.

Quote (Johannes_Oswaldt)
Jo, as an ordinary citizen of the Empire, do you lack confidence in the Imperial armed forces?

No, I have absolute confidence in them to keep me safe and so does every good citizen I know.

Quote (Johannes_Oswaldt)
Do you think the Imperial armed forces will shoot you if you disagree with them?

No, thats the most outrageous thing Ive ever heard.. The Empire is here to keep us safe, not kill us. Anyone who says otherwise is someone who considers the Empire his enemy.. and you know what that means...

Quote (Johannes_Oswaldt)
What?

It means hes an enemy of the Empire too. A damn traitor as far as Im concerned.

So there.. the testimony of an "ordinary citizen of the Empire." I stand by this motion and I demand the Senator apologize and withdraw his remarks

Senator Fowlkes, I have never known you to say such things against the Empire. Ever. And we have known each other a good deal of time now. I have to admit that I am a little dissapointed in your words, and therefore must vote in favor of the Censure.

As with Senator Kuriyoshi, I implore you to issue an apology to the Senate and Empire and retract your statements immediately. I would personally hate to see anything happen to you that could remove you from this chamber.

Garos IV has been absent from this chamber over the last few weeks and has come back to find these chambers falling apart. Senator Fowlkes has never spoken against the Empire to myself nor anyone else that I know of. Is it wrong to question whether or not the Imperial Army and Navy can keep the Empire's citizens safe or is doing the correct thing? I think it is a valid question and Senator Fowlkes should not be censured for it. We all question this of our militaries whether it is the Imperial Forces or the forces of the planets we represent. I constantly question whether or not my own military acts in an honorable way, and it has nothing to do with individual common soliders, it has to do with the leadership. We should be allowed to question whether or not things are being ran in the way that will make all of us safe and will keep harm from those who have done no harm.

Garos votes AGAINST this motion of censure on Senator Fowlkes.

It's one thing to inquire, now and then, if the armed forces are measuring up to their sterling reputation as keepers of the peace and defenders of the people, as Senator Cerra has said. It's quite another to brazenly declare that the people are in fear of the armed forces because they are willing to murder people in the street. It is disrespectful and, moreover, it is not acceptable for a trusted public official to make such an alarmist declaration. Yes, we know Senator Fowlkes is a nice man, and perhaps he hasn't expressed hostility to the Empire in the past. But he has now, and it should not be tolerated in this Senate which, despite Senator Cerra's words to the contrary, is (or should be) a dignified body. That is why I vote in favor of this censure—to preserve the dignity of this Senate and, I hope, to deter Senator Fowlkes from this sort of conduct in the future. I would also like my vote to be understood as a firm repudiation of the Crionism (or "Mon Mothmism") that has been seen and heard in the Senate of late.

Sluis Van is... troubled... by the way Senator Fowlkes has issued certain statements. However, we see no reason to vote for or against this censure and as such, abstain from the vote. However, the act of making an apology would go a long way towards rectifying this problem.

There is nothing so damning as the tacit admission of guilt of a man who refuses to protest his innocence. Senator Domon, Senator Cerra, until Senator Fowlkes denies anything he is accused of I don't see how anyone can defend him. As far as I'm concerned, his silence on this measure is indicative of his proud ownership of the seditious words that Governor Oswaldt has accused him of.

First off, I would like to state against one of the accusations Senator Oswaldt had made toward me. I am not an enemy of the Empire. I fought in the Clone Wars. I went to the war at the risk of my life, and yet I did it anyway so the galaxy can be a safe place once again. Then I continued the work of keeping the galaxy a safe place by going down the political road. I worked my butt off to get here, so I can represent the Telosians to the best of my abilities and to ensure that the galaxy is a safe place for the sentient beings to live in.

Secondly, there are a lot of people that fears the Imperial military. Before any of you goes on bashing me, I would like to finish my statement. Instead of approaching the Grand Vizier or any other Senators on how to solve this problem, I outright accused the Empire of committing seditious actions toward our own people without any remorse. I was not behaving like a Senator, and I apologize for that. I apologize for stepping out of line when it comes to the military of His Majesty's. If I have any concerns, I shall speak with someone about this in private or bring this out on the Senate floor so we could discuss like rational gentlemen and ladies. I apologize for how I have behaved within the chambers lately.

Senator of Telos IV

So directed, the motion is withdrawn. Let the record show, however, that 75% of Senators did vote against this sort of rhetoric, and I hope this gesture of disapproval reminds Senator Fowlkes of the commitment he has made here to us not to repeat this Crionist conduct. It does not well serve or inform your constituents, and is destructive of any reasoned discussion of the issues that matter to them and to all of us.
