Dear Senator Cambrist

I trust you are well. I have heard much of your prestigious career, and would like to write to you, a man of reason, and hope you are able to take certain actions for the good of the Empire and its multitude of member worlds. I would like to lobby you, on behalf of all those who would like to see a better, more strong Empire, where a man can stand tall and be free from threats of death from above from other worlds; to vote against the repeal of clauses in the Capital Ships Act (which you contributed to in such a forthright and decisive manner).

On another matter, I'd like to let you know that the Parliament of Vjun would be interested in conferring upon you a Baronetecy (Hereditary Knighthood) in thanks for your sterling work in the Senate and for your continuing contribution to the peace and security of the Galaxy. The title also comes with a small castle and a village on Vjun, in addition to a selection of cash assets located in the Tapani Sector Bank which are attached to the land by the previous occupant. I hope you are able to accept this title as a small token of the esteem in which you are held on Vjun.

With Warmest Regards.

Bernard Oriel
Senator for the Planet of Vjun
1st Earl Malreaux (Second Creation)
Vjun Delegation to the Imperial Senate

Senator Oriel,

It is an old debate in philosophy whether praise or, in this instance, recognition of one's virtue is how one knows oneself to be virtuous, or whether there is more merit in being virtuous for its own sake, not for praise, recognition, or reward. I would like to believe that I do the right thing simply because it is the right thing. However, as I have watched the debate on the measure you refer to, I have become convinced that to oppose this repeal is, indeed, the right thing to do. And, as it happens, I would not be averse to the Baronetecy that you have so generously offered. Vjun is a world of hardy and industrious people, and I am honored that they think well of me.

Please do forward to my office any further details. Be well, Senator. I suspect I will see you on Vjun rather soon.

Regards.
