Good Day to you, Allow me to introduce myself, Lord Hakeswill, a prominent member of the Vjun Scientific Commission, a private members organisation founded on Vjun for the furtherment of science and the increase of knowledge within the galaxy, we regret the recent disagreements between your government and our own, however, we wish to state that we have no wish to involve ourself in any ill feeling towards your world what so ever.
As such, it is in the spirit of amity and progress that we have deployed our commission's sensor array one light-year from your territory (coordinates included below). We trust that you will allow our scientists to go about their work in their studies of your world's solar radiation. We also hope that you will provide them with such protection as is considered necessary and allow them to pass without let or hindrance into your space when they travel there for their rest periods &c. Also we hope that you will be able to recommend us a local supplier of foodstuffs so that we might supply the crew aboard with the shortest possible journey.
Allow me to present the full crew manifest.

For our defence we have a pair of gun platforms defending our station, each mounting two twin-linked turbolasers, we also maintain 4 Quadlasers on the station and 4 Cloakshape Fighters. In addition to this the array mounts a Lambda-class Shuttle and two space tugs. The platform is also equipped with a good standard of deflector shielding to repulse any dangers.
We look forward to cooperating with you in this and our future endeavours to push back the borders of human understanding and to gain a better knowledge of this most mysterious cosmos in which we are in the midst.
Warm Regards
Marquess Hakeswill of the Isle of Telac, Vjun.
Scientist and Member of the Vjun Science Commission Board of Direction.
*Also transmitted was a full blueprint of the station and its coordinates.*

Message from Commandant Jones to the Government of Volus
To the Honourable Government of Volus,
I write to you in the spirit of concord which exists in the Empire for the furthering of the Scientific Endeavour. I would also like to restate the words of Lord Hakeswill, that we are in no way an aggressive installation, nor an organ of the Vjun state, we are funded by a coalition of private citizens who believe that the cause of science overrides any petty political matters which might have arisen between Vjun and Volus.
This letter is a courtesy due to your world's proximity to our new Sensor Array, and while we are outside of your jurisdiction, it is important to keep a healthy relationship between us. You have my personal assurance that our Array is no threat to your world or its territory, in fact, quite the opposite, as we will be happy to share the Array's findings with you when published, and I hope they will help shed some light on the space around your world.
Equally, if there are any projects which your world would like to be conducted during the time the array is free from other experiments then I am sure we would be happy to take any surveys you might require enacting, or detailed scans made of local celestial phenomenon.
May I also repeat Lord Hakeswill's request to your world to allow our crew free passage to Volus for their recreational periods, in order to alleviate the boredom and monotony which can occur on a deep space mission. We have our own transport which is able to bring people to and from the station. Furthermore, may I give you my personal guarantee that this station will be run in accordance with all Imperial Law.
Commandant Dafyth Jones
