(Sent shortly after the Theta class shuttle arrived on this thread))

Moff,

I will keep it short but there is a matter with which I wish to discuss. The people of Volus would like to request to borrow a single cruiser with interdictor technology. We have reason to believe that the raiders who attack the Vjun space station recently are planning something similar in Volusian space and would like to force them into a situation from which there will be no recovery for them. While we believe that our forces are more than adequate to handle any such raid the problem would be in giving these raiders a chance to escape which we have absolutely no intention of doing so.

Thank you for your time,
Loton Motour
King of Volus

Moff Assange has temporarily handed defense matters over to me, regarding your sector. I have arrived in this area, out of the Outer Rim and away from my fleet's special assignment to Carratos to help fix this sector. That includes everyone, even you. I must be blunt in saying, the CC-2200 Interdictor Frigate is few in number, and we have none free from use by the Imperial Navy for the foreseeable future. To be frank, a militia that can't even handle a ragtag group of pirates and raiders will not be receiving the services of something as vital and scarce as an Interdictor. If your militia forces can prove themselves worthy of such an attachment, your wish for an Interdictor to aid in your apparently growing pirate problem will be granted. However, it is currently denied. And I must say, Mr. Motour, should your people show further displays of incompetence, it may not be just the Sector Fleet that garners my attention. Also, I can't help but notice your apparent withholding of information from Imperial Intelligence concerning the actions of pirates, and thus insurgent forces. I would recommend handing over that material as soon as possible, before I am forced to report such an action to the ISB. Good day to you, sir.

Admiral allow me to alleviate some if not all of your concerns if not for the interdictor but rather to assist in your assimilation into the system.

Firstly, Volus has gone to great lengths to make sure that these reports are available to the Empire submitting them even to the office of the head of the defense committee. We hide nothing of the actions taken by our military or any attempts at piracy in and around our system. If you wish I will personally have all recent and related reports and ship logs forwarded to your office for review.

That, however, is a small matter in the scheme of things as I feel the most dire statement is the perceived incompetence of Volusian forces. I would invite you to personally come to the system and sit down with both our Admiral Hurd and the Imperial Political officer, Captain Lyons, and discuss many of the pirates committing suicide against our forces. As you will, no doubt, be informed, Volusian forces have wiped out vast majorities of these pirates who stray into our territory and jurisdiction. While the Vjun incident may not, on the surface, speak well for our forces let me assure you that we responded in a timely and organized manner arriving in force and formation only 10 minutes after the distress call was received but, as you know, the attack had already ended by that time.

We understand the reasons for denial and will drop any further pursuit of an interdictor.

I hope that this has relieved many of your concerns or at the very least done no harm to your opinions of our defense forces and their levels of readiness and competence.

Mr. Motour, I have no idea why you are going on about the public submission of reports to the Defense Committee regarding my concerns towards holding out on Imperial Intelligence. I am not a simpleton. I am not one of your commoners. I am an Imperial Officer, and a high ranking one at that. I refer to your mention of reason to believe the most recent group targetting you are planning another attack of such severity that it demands the use of not only an Imperial Navy vessel, but one of our very few and extremely valuable Interdictors. The Intelligence field office here is not aware of any such reports or information, and yet you seem to have some and have not notifed Intelligence, nor any kind of Imperial organization, but this seems to be suitable for a request for a Interdictor. Senator Star's report to the Defense Committee has no bearing on this particular issue, and rambling on about it concerns me and makes me suspect to Volus' intentions.

As for your pirate issues, and incompetence of your militia, I can only go by results; and the results are that a civilian research facility has suffered serious damage due to your lack of coverage as well as interdiction operations, the fact that your attackers are suicide attackers does not reflect your success, but their mental instability, and apparent hatred, akin to a jihad, against your planet. Why this is, I do not know. However, I will meet with Line Captain Lyons in private concerning his views on your militia and world later on this week. Admiral Hurd will have to wait until I make my way to Volus, which I will eventually, upon finishing up Derra IV.

Admiral Corvus as the recent attack showed, we may have become a target for more than simple pirates. The capture of the Jedi sends alarms through both me and many on Volus, as such I would request that you send some aide as soon as possible. Our forces can deal with normal pirates and have effectively for years but our forces are ill equipped to deal with the threats that a Jedi can pose despite the capture of such an individual.

We do not know if this man was alone or not yet as we are keeping him sedated until such a time that the inquisitors are able to arrive and deal with him directly."

Sincerely,
Loton Motour
King of Volus
