I would like to confide in you my personal support for the "Protection of the Imperial Military Act" that you have proposed. Any measure that assures funding to our armed forces is one that is favorable to me, and to His Majesty. However, I've made a determination that I'm unable to declare the support of the chair for the measure. While I would welcome its passage, I perceive a danger in endorsing it and, should it be defeated, incurring the hostility of a large number of Senators whose support His Majesty would prefer to have at this time. I thank you for the proposal, however. And I encourage you, whatever the outcome of this particular vote, to remain as steadfast in your support of the Imperial military as you have demonstrated yourself to be. This support has not gone unnoticed in the Imperial Palace.
