Subject: Relations

Greetings,

I am Senator Tremaine Fowlkes of Telos IV, of the Imperial Senate. It's a pleasure to finally speak with you, a Hapan to be more specific. I am also a historian, but even then, a very little information on your people had been recorded throughout the Galactic history. Still, that doesn't stop me from letting curiosity take the best of me. I would like to learn more about your culture, your way of life. However, the reason I sent my message isn't simply just for my favorite hobby. It is also a business. You have recently only made yourself recognized among the sovereignty of the Galactic Empire. Based on the official name of your own government, I am assuming your intentions are not to have your people become Imperial citizens.

If so, that is a dangerous thing to do. His Majesty, or the Grand Vizier himself, might not be so understanding toward this. In addition, there might be several politicians wanting to pressure your nation into becoming an Imperial sector. I would like to be a friendly voice among many in the chambers. Perhaps I could help you retain your status as independent without getting into trouble with the Emperor himself. To set the tone, and as a gesture of faith and goodwill, I would like Telos IV to become a trading partner for the Independent Hapan Nation. My company, known as Loyalist Gas Mining Corporation, would like to also establish mining operations there. I believe the company would help bolster your economy. This would also help smooth any relations your sovereign might have with the Galactic Empire.

Perhaps we can confer somewhere on this? We could confer about this at my homeword of Telos IV, or we could confer at Parein II. The time and location is of your choosing. I sincerely hope you take up on my offer.

Sincerely,

Tremaine Fowlkes
Senator of Telos IV

Re: Relations

Senator Fowlkes,

Your assumptions on my policies are correct; ideally, the IHN would bend no knee to any sovereign other than itself. Whether or not we are able to do this is entirely dependent on what the Senate decides, I fear. At best, we may have to add 'protectorate' somewhere in our title. Nonetheless, it is far too early to be considering such things. I can only hope our status as a curiosity will keep any enemies at bay for a time.

While the offer of a trade partnership between the IHN and your Loyalist Gas Mining Corporation is indeed a welcome sight, I cannot simply agree offhand; it is something to be voted upon by the government and must hold the consent of the common people of Parein II and its moons. From my own point, I am not averse to such a relationship, but I would prefer to hear more of your LGMC before I make a final decision.

Regrettably, the current situation requires my presence here on Parein II. You are always welcome to travel, if that is acceptable.

Regards,

K'so Da'shune

Presidium Da'shune,

It's good to hear that you're willing to listen to my offer. I can travel to Parein II, at your time of choosing. At the meeting, we can discuss the relationship of LGMC and IHN. I look forward to meeting you in person.

Sincerely,

Tremaine Fowlkes
Senator of Telos IV

Re: Re: Relations

Senator Fowlkes,

I fear your Senate has taken a disliking to me. Nonetheless, feel welcome to visit Parein II at any time of your choosing.
