| Senator,
I wanted to apologize for some of the things I've said about you in the past. While I disagreed with you then and still do, and no doubt will in the future, it was inappropriate of me to insult you and it's not something I intend to do again. I tend to be impulsive and I admit I can be inartful as a politician, but I hope that I'm maturing as a Senator and at least moderating my words (not my beliefs, however). Despite the fact we've been united in opposition to Senator Oriel's bill, I understand that we've been so for entirely different reasons and that I can't count on your support as I persist on this issue in the days and weeks to come.
But I hope nonetheless to entertain your advice and the possibility of your support—I don't have all the answers and I would appreciate the input of a Senator who is experienced on interstellar defense policy and also Senate politics. With your permission then, I'd like to run some ideas by you in a week or so as I put them together. We're agreed after all that the Capital Vessels Act needs to go.
