| Senator Cambrist, I recently received a letter from my father asking me to speak with the mining corporation on Anobis about dropping the price on the minerals you requested. I have one question before I go and ask them.... Why do you want us to reduce the pricing on The Duralium and the Ianthanide? I only ask because I won't only have to talk to the miner's, I'd have to talk to the freighter's company too, it could lead to be very bad.
Regards.

| Mr. Youngblood,
The Senate was pleased to hear of your recovery. With regard to the prices of duralium and lanthanide, Brentaal occupies an immensely important position on the intersection of the Hydian Way and the Perlemian Trade Route. It, more than most worlds (perhaps any world), is a critical commercial juncture, and while this can be called a great privilege, it is also a great responsibility—and a costly one. Brentaal expends much of its people's money on customs enforcement and counter-piracy; these are services that all worlds, including Anobis, benefit from. We ensure that your duralium and lanthanide is transported securely through our space on the way to its destinations. Brentaal, thus, deserves some recompense for its labors. I would argue on this basis that the people of Brentaal are entitled to a reduced price on the goods that we make it possible for Anobis to export throughout the galaxy. Specifically, duralium and lanthanide.
Brentaal, with its population of 65 billion, is a large market. But it doesn't compare to some of your other customers, like Imperial Center (1 trillion), Alsakan (1 trillion), or Metellos (900 billion). Compared to these—and the many smaller customers who buy duralium and lanthanide from Anobis—a discount to Brentaal and Brentaal alone would not impact your profits too significantly. Certainly no more so than Brentaal is inconvenienced by its responsibility for customs enforcement, etc. For these reasons I see the discount as eminently fair.
Regards.

| I see you're point, I'll pass it along the mining corperation, as well as the freighter company. I think we can meet your percentage on the Duralium, but not so much on the Ianthanide. It would be like taking the life-blood away from a creature. It would simply die... Not really but it would cause a big wound that could take a lot of time to heal. Anyways, either me or my father will be in contact with you when we are able to negotiate a change in pricing for the said minerals.
Good day, sir.
Signed.

| You should also advise your miners that the impact of the potential surcharges on the passage of these shipments through Brentaal's space would be ≥50 times worse for their profits. We'll expect your answer by the first of the month.
Good day indeed, Sir.

| Okay, sorry about the delay Senator Cambrist, when I told the freighters and miner's about it they lost their head's for a while, and it got into a pretty heated debate on rather to do so, but I also mentioned to the miner's about the impact of potential surcharges like you mentioned, after awhile they all came around and voted for it. So, congratulations, Senator. Please feel free to contact me or my father for any other business deals.
Signed.

| Mr. Youngblood, Brentaal is grateful for the compromise Anobis was willing to make on its mineral prices. I am, however, a reasonable man and I desire no hardship for your people or your government as a result of this. Brentaal would be content to accept the full market price on lanthanide from Anobis in return for assisting us in another way, if you will. Brentaal has a number of prospectors on the planet Praesitlyn who have encountered xenophobic resistance from the ruler, or "Khedive," of the Sluis Sector and the Senator of Sluis Van, too. Now, in the midst of this dispute, this Senator has proposed that the Senate respect the power of this "Khedive," which is troubling because most Humans in the Sluis Sector do not support this "Khedive" in the first place.
My real problem with the proposal, though, is the timing of it. Clearly, the Senator of Sluis Van is trying to use the Senate to give him an unfair advantage in his dispute with Brentaal. I do not appreciate this, and neither do Brentaal's hard-working prospectors on Praesitlyn, who are quite similar in many respects to the miners that Anobis is known for. Would you be willing to approach your father and ask him to consider voting against this proposal? The timing of it isn't right, and it will only cause racial tensions on Praesitlyn.Added (28 Jan 2012, 5:46 PM) --------------------------------------------- Mr. Youngblood I'm afraid I must ask for your response to this as soon as possible.

| I apologize, Senator. I'll be sure to pass this information down to him in case he's missed this legislation.
