Mr. Decius,

It's no secret in the Core that you're after the divestment of Rothana Heavy Engineering from Kuat Drive Yards. The perception on Kuat, however, is that this is some sort of Deralian ethno-economic crusade and it isn't taken seriously. Neither are you, Sir. Since leaving KDY, I've come to disdain the low-opinion of Outer Rim worlds that I was taught to have, and that most Core-worlders do. But if you want to succeed in divesting RHE from KDY—I, for one, want you to succeed—you need to recognize the realities of Core-centric prejudice. I have some advice for you, Mr. Decius.

1. Change the name of your company to something less "Deralian-sounding." Human High Culture is the fashion in the Core, Mr. Decius—there's no patience for Outer Rim cultures or customs, and a Deralian name condemns your company to instant irrelevance in the eyes of the Core-centric businessmen you need to convince. Consider changing your name too.

2. Shift your base-of-operations away from Deralia. Decius Industries cannot be seen as "the national industry" of some Outer Rim world if you hope to convince skeptical Core-worlders to divest Rothana. Decius Industries needs to be seen as an interstellar enterprise, not simply a Deralian one. You may find this characterization unfair, but I can tell you, Mr. Decius, it's how your company is perceived in the Core.

3. Sub-contract with a Core-based arms distributor, rather than selling all of your products direct from the manufacturer. This will gain you greater access to Core markets and raise the profile of your products.

4. Establish a working relationship with Rothana. Divesting RHE from KDY is only half the struggle—if you want RHE for yourself, you need to be seen as the most logical buyer. Otherwise, RHE will simply be auctioned off to another Core-based parent company with far more credits than you. Decius Industries needs to have a close, working relationship with RHE, perhaps involving part-ownership of each other's products, or revenue-sharing, etc. The more contractual obligations that Rothana has with you, and vice-versa, the harder it will be for anyone else to buy Rothana.

5. KDY has a private security fleet at Rothana, as you know. The presence of this fleet there must be made more trouble than it's worth to KDY. I'd be happy to discuss this with you in more detail in person, if you'd like to meet. I have a rather busy schedule, however, so you'd need to arrange it with my droids.

Regards,
HIERONYMUS KUAT
