With the proliferation of more and more heavy slug throwers across the Outer Rim (thanks to certain irresponsible defense manufacturers), we're reporting increased casualties from units wearing the plastoid armour many of our clients use in combat. The Gleeful (and perhaps even Greeful?) way in which these weapons are being distributed is rather shocking.
I'd like to request we look at a joint project to "shut down" these atrocious weapons once and for all. I believe adding a Duranium coating as an option would be viable. A thin electroplated layer of Duranium (of merely micrometers thick) would provide a considerable increase in the effectiveness of armour against slug throwers - especially the sort of armour penetrating and high explosive rounds we're seeing perpetuated across the Outer Rim of late. If possible, could the relevant data regarding the manufacture of Duranium be transferred from Kuat Drive Yards Central Database to us as soon as is convenient.
I'd also like to produce an up-tooled version of our Riot Shield constructed from Duranium instead of Transparisteel, for use in built up areas and ships, these are invaluable assets for defense or attack and would allow advancing behind a mobile wall. The cost would be rather high though; estimated at 2,500 Credits a unit.
With the advent of these more expensive units, we've kept pace with countermeasures and offer the following suggestions for KDY's products in future:
- Incorporation of Jamming Beam Projectors on a wider scale - invaluable against mechanical units and fighters alike.
- Increased use of Tanglefoot Field Generators - If we can roll this out for bases I believe security would be significantly improved.
- Increasing use of advanced sensor arrays - paired with Cam Droids in a given area to detect infiltration.
- Pushing forward with the "slicing beam" suite we're having fitted on our latest Frigate with the hopes of developing one usable in ground engagements.
I'd again like to re-iterate how shocked I am that someone is bringing back the barbaric idea of slugthrowers into widespread use once again.

The Emperor is grateful for your concern about the proliferation of slug-throwers on the Outer Rim. I'm informed that much of the most common, modern and military-grade armor is impervious to all of the most commonly-used slugs with the exception of a small number of "specialty slugs" still made to this day, over a thousand years since the Ruusan Reformation. It's a small danger, but a serious one nonetheless—the Imperial Department of Military Research has expressed to the Ruling Council its support of this endeavor, and I am referring it to the Imperial Military Oversight Commission. I've attached to this message the contact information for Major Cumberdale-McBastard, who I'm confident can help move this project through the Commission.
