Your Excellency

I was elected Senator just before the implementation of the New Order and issued with holocomm and access keys.

I've never formerly addressed the Senate, and so did so earlier (since my codes seemed to check out fine), I didn't realize it was improper to do so without taking an oath of Allegiance (although one assumes my allegiance isn't in doubt as a Sector Governor).

You've my apology if it was improper (although many non-Senators and Senators elect seem to speak before they are sworn in?). I appointed a man to speak concerning his worlds actions, I'd much appreciate (if I was not able to turn the floor over to him as a delegate) that you'd see to it that he be given recognition.

Sincerely,

Manfred Winder

Moff Winder,

Your man has been recognized to speak. With regard to representation of the Auril Sector in the Senate, since the recent implementation of Oversectors and the division of responsibilities between Moffs and Grand Moffs it was deemed proper to abrogate many immediate post-war measures such as Moffs of certain Sectors serving as de jure Senators as circumstances require, and circumstances no longer require as they did ten years ago.

However, as Sector Governor you have the authority to re-appoint yourself Senator if you so wish. While your allegiance to the Empire is, indeed, not in doubt, the traditions of the Senate are ancient—one might say outmoded in many respects—and the opposition of Senator Kirkwood is indication that it is often simpler to go with the grain rather than against it. (The Senate is concerned, above all else, with the preservation of its petty prerogatives). The oath, I'm afraid, will be required of any prospective Senator of the Auril Sector, to be administered after a period of questioning by the Senate. I find this process to be rather demeaning, personally, and I'd not blame you for avoiding it altogether. But the choice is, of course, yours.

Sincerely,

Sate Pestage
Grand Vizier of the Empire
Assistant to Emperor Palpatine
Chair of the Imperial Senate

I honestly am not sure if it's worth the bother old fruit.

I spend most of my day attending to other duties. I elected myself the Senator before. Would it be possible to temporarily just have some sort of seat as a Representative so I can poke my head around the door whenever I feel it's needful? Really we're so remote out in the Auril Sector there isn't much we'd care to vote on that I can think of.

I've also no interest in claiming the salary or any benefits like that. What do you suggest?

That snivelling Kirkwood strikes me as a man who spends too much time cowtowing to giant worms, quite a bad sort. I worry his sort could blow this whole mess out of all proportions, it was a little raid by one little world on another in response to some trifling blood feud, but now Kanzad's taking his allegiance to the Lorrdians to the extreme (if I may be blunt) in how he's dealing with the Alsakan humanitarians present.

I spoke to him last night and told him to just throw them a ball, let them deliver their aid and go away, but now he's having the Emperor's ships fly his traffic control missions! Thankfully my own sector isn't such a nanny state and worlds are expected to operate their own enforcement of territory.

Worth noting, as a word to the wise - Alyn Stark was taking his "Yacht" into battle again, one of the chaps from my Sector damn near smashed it's bridge off on their way out. First flying fighters and Drones in an off-limits combat area, and now effectively waging private war in a custom-designed capital ship armed with several turbolasers. A man to watch if I have ever seen one. There also appeared to be a flotilla of "entourage" vessels about his; something to add to the notebook for when he invariably has some meglomaniacal scheme that makes him needful of arrest.
