THE MIGHTY MONNOK, VOL. III
A Voice of the People

Someone—Not Us—Has Committed an Atrocity on Corulag

In broadcast after broadcast, The Mighty Monnok has denounced Imperial atrocities, from the genocides at Caamas and Talasea, the massacres at Ghorman and Renatasia, the enslavement of Mandalore and Carratos, the slaughter of Jedi at Kessel, and many, many others. We don't denounce these atrocities because it's the Empire that did them; we denounce them because the murder of innocent men, women, and children is wrong no matter who does it. This, we believe. The Empire does not. It has shown us all again and again that it has no regard for the lives of its people. It has killed them before, it will kill them again. This week, on Corulag, a village was burned down and its good, innocent people were shot. We know two things about this latest atrocity; 1.) whoever did it feels the way the Empire does about innocent life, not as we do, and 2.) whoever did it reportedly wore the symbol of a Monnok on their shoulders.

Let's roll up our sleeves and imagine ourselves in the Empire's position for a moment and ask, "How would we go about committing an atrocity?" I don't know, personally, but I think if we wanted to do it secretly, we wouldn't wear our logo on our shoulders (if we had a logo, which we don't). And if we wanted to do it publicly, we would claim responsibility for it right here and now. But we do not claim responsibility, because we are not responsible. We did not and would not kill innocent people, and anyone who has listened to a word of this broadcast before would never and should never believe it. We hope the Empire finds who really did this, but somehow we doubt that's going to happen—the Empire seems unable (or unwilling?) to protect even its most loyal supporters on sheltered Core Worlds like Coruscant and Corulag. Take notice, citizens, and consider taking up arms, too. Protect yourselves, oppose the Empire. Follow Contruum's example.

Tapani Sector: Support Mical de Crion

Mical de Crion was forced out of the Senate for saying what The Mighty Monnok has been saying for a long time; that the Empire has no respect for the lives and livelihoods of anyone who disagrees, anyone who is poor, anyone who isn't human. It displaces and disenfranchises these people, it drives them to desperation and, sometimes, it kills them. Crion had the courage to say this, and the Empire was fast to wave the flag and turn the people against him. But don't be fooled by the rumors and "protests" that have been engineered against him. Read what he said, people of the Tapani Sector, not just what the Empire says he said. Once you do you'll know that he's right, but even if you don't think so, stand up for his right to free speech. Demonstrate in support of him, and against the Empire's censorship. If free speech can be denied to one person in the Tapani Sector today, it can be denied to all people in the Tapani Sector tomorrow.

People of Chandrila: Demand Better

It's impossible to talk about Senators who were hounded out of their jobs without talking about Mon Mothma of Chandrila. She, above all others, had the courage to speak truth to power. The Empire didn't like it; they called her a traitor, threatened to arrest her, and now she's in hiding. As if it wasn't enough for the Empire to take away Chandrila's fleet, it also took away its Senator. But what about her replacement, Ilanah Thanatos? Has she lived up to the legacy that Mon Mothma left to her people, of speaking out against the iron fisted despotism of the Empire? Has she made famous the names of every single person the Empire murders, as Mon Mothma did? Has she spoken out against the slaughter of the Jedi? No. Since taking over for Mon Mothma, Ilanah Thanatos has been an obedient stooge for the Empire. She's selling you out, people of Chandrila, and you don't have to put up with it.

Look at your Senator's record and ask yourselves: do you support Imperial bans on a woman's right to choose? Do you support flooding the galaxy with warships while your defense fleet is taken away from you? Do you support the blockade of Aeeq, an innocent Imperial world? Your Senator, Ilanah Thanatos, supports these things in your name. She's also a member of "The Loyalist Committee," a title that Mon Mothma would never allow herself be slandered with. You can do better, Chandrila. You have done better. Ilanah Thanatos has voted against Imperial policies occasionally, but she is ever reluctant to do so. If she doesn't stand up for what you, the people of Chandrila, believe in, demand that she resign. And demand someone better. And to you, Senator Thanatos, it's not too late; rise to our challenge and speak for your people, not for the Empire.

Tiroth—The Holofootage Doesn't Lie

Throughout the galaxy, people like you and me are in rebellion against the Empire. The Empire doesn't want you to know this, which is why it lied about what really happened to the city of Tiroth, on Balmorra. It says it demolished a city for the good of its people, a people who were forced into poverty, desperation and despair by the government of Balmorra, spending all of its money to build weapons of war for the Empire instead of providing economic opportunity for its people. "There was no rebellion in Tiroth," the Grand Vizier said. But there was, and The Mighty Monnok has the holofootage that proves what really happened there. This is what happens when good, innocent people are displaced and disenfranchised. This is what happens when the Empire shows up to demolish the only thing they have left—their homes—and "re-develop" them into a new community they can't afford to live in. Everyone, including you, has a limit to their patience; a limit to how much they will allow to be taken from them, how many rights, how many friends and family members, and how much self-respect before they fight back. Watch this footage, citizens, and realize that this could have happened to any city, on any planet, in any system or sector. It could happen to you, if you let it.
