| The nights were getting colder he noticed with a shudder that had little to do with the wind driven rain beating upon is face. Ten years since that day, ten long years of solitude, and here he was. The small family that he’d taken refuge with this time had been phenomenal, but it was time to go. He had been feeling that it was time for about a week now, but saying goodbye was always hard, even for a Jedi. With a sigh he stepped back onto the porch; the old man had not moved, other than the rhythmic rocking of his chair. He often sat outside to watch the sunset or the rain fall, oft in silence. He always wanted company but his wife was getting too old to like the cold night air anymore. Raztlain had spent each evening for the better part of two months standing just off the edge of the porch staring out into the black while his host rocked steadily though the hours. They rarely spoke, and when they did it was usually in short sentences; the elderly fellow was not much for communication, but he always seemed to have good advice. “On the move again?” He questioned as Alies stepped out of the rain. The Jedi nodded. “He’s out there, and he’s scared.” He sighed again and shook his head. “I’ve tried everything I know short of capturing him and…well…” “That’d prove his suspicions, least make him think he was right,” the old man observed. He was intelligent, that was for sure. “I think he may be leaving; I feel…it’s like urgency.” “Scared,” the man confirmed solemnly. “Can’t blame ‘im, what with that machine about killin’ as he will.” He nodded to himself satisfactorily, pleased with his assessment. He shrugged. “Don’t much understand you folk, but I reckon if I were lookin’ to find friends as was scared of me I’d probably search out 'is transport, tag it and let ‘im leave; easy enough to catch later. Least if you got somethin' faster...might work better that way…might.” “Might,” Alies agreed. Here was the hard part. “Look sir, I think I have put a target on you and yours for long enough, its past time for me to move on. As close as I am getting to this…youth I guess you might say, they’re getting close to me…I can feel it.” Perhaps that was even what was scaring the other Jedi. The old man nodded again in time with the creaking of his chair. “Figured as much, you been thinking on it for a week now. Thing is, well, me and the wife, we’re gettin’ up in age…seen a lot in my time. Been shot at ‘fore too,” he said with a sly grin as he patted the rifle leaned against his wall beside the chair. “These Short-troops, or Cloaks…whatever you talk about…ain’t gonna scare me, and the wife’s pretty hearty too.” Alies chuckled before he could stop himself. “Stormtroopers, and Clones. But still, its time. If there is anything I can do before I go, some way to pay you for your kindnesses please allow me.” He shook his head. “Ain’t nothin’ no one else wouldn’t-a-done. You wanna pay me back? Find this other Jedi and then stop the Empire ‘fore it takes everyone’s sons away.” Raztlain only nodded as he turned back towards the rain and lost his thoughts in the rhythmic rocking of his host. Added (02 Nov 2010, 6:41 PM) --------------------------------------------- It couldn’t be put off after his announcement last night so, after he had eaten breakfast (the couple insisted) and paid them with what few coins were not already spoken for, he said his goodbyes and made his way to the local spaceport. He paid his docking fees, with the coins he had left over, secured his release forms and walked to his ship, but instead of boarding his vessel he passed it and began walking though the lot laying his hand on each ship as he passed. Within the first fifteen vessels he had found it, and though it was not an exact science he felt the urgency like a residue and knew it to be the same that he’d felt all the way from the farm; this, he though, had to be the one. Digging into his robe he found the small transmitter and affixed it to the back side of the landing strut. The youth was scared, that much was true, and with the presence of another Jedi closing in he would likely miss checking for such a mundane thing before skipping the planet. Finally Alies turned back towards his ship, confident that he’d found what, or rather who, he’d been searching for. It seemed the old man’s advice would pay off once again. He had gone all of three steps when he heard the unmistakable click of a safety. Perhaps it had been the strange feeling associated with Clones, perhaps it had been the Jedi’s devoted attention to finding the ship, regardless Alies cursed himself for neglecting his full abilities. Slowly he turned and came face to face with the wrong end of a carbine. “Twitch your hand and you get a new hole.” The cold mechanical voice said. “Then again, you’re dead anyway…just one thing first.” As he said this eleven more stormtroopers stood in a semi-circle. “Cover him,” the metallic voice said, and if it could be cocky it was. “I want to get a good look at a so called Jedi face before I disfigure it.” And with that the soldier lowered his weapon and stripped off his helmet. The face shocked Raztlain so much that he gasped. This cold soldier was no more than twenty, probably less. Of course, clones were bred for war but Alies simply could not grasp the malice that had to be fed to the youths for them to be such stone hard killers. He had known this day would come, he had resigned himself to it, prepared for it, and finally he knew what it was to look into the eyes of a man ordered to kill him nine years ago. The terrible blast sounded and Raztlain tensed as he prepared for the pain that would precede his imminent death, (it was unlikely that he could absorb a bolt at this close range) but with the echo of the shot he noticed that the youthful face had gone slack; then the body dropped out of his line of sight to reveal the other soldiers covered faces looking about to see their assailant. They were good though and even now several were bringing their weapons back to bear on Alies. The Jedi, however, was good too and he took advantage of their momentary lapse as they had done him. His lightsaber was a blur in his hands before the first shots range out. So long as they stayed relatively in front of him they were little threat, he’d easily block most of their shots and what few penetrated his defenses would be absorbed into his body as a reserve tap for energy. They knew that as well and begun spreading out but another shot rang out and another trooper on Raztlain’s right fell. Alies sidestepped to the left and stopped the advance that side, but it got him close enough to time his ricochets so that a third soldier dropped. In minutes the twelve stormtroopers were dispatched and Raztlain drew a slow breath as he walked towards the place where the last shot had erupted. A smile split his face as Klev, the old man with whom he had stayed, stepped out from behind an old battered bulk cruiser. “Ain’t sayin’ its right, but sometimes a bit o’ revenge just feels good,” he said as he patted his rifle. “You saved my life,” Alies said stating the obvious. Klev shrugged. “You Jedi folk always figure a way out, was only a matter of time. Course they killed my boy,” he shrugged again. “Figure it was only fair. ‘sides, looks like all that twirlin’ you was doin’ attracted some attention. Figure he can’t say you’re on their side now huh?” Raztlain looked towards the front of the lot and sure enough there stood a shrouded figure. Alies smiled as he turned back to the old man. “Thanks again, for everything. You should probably move along before the authorities arrive.” “Nope,” he said stubbornly. “You best be on your way, they got nothin’ on me, you’re a Jedi. You go along, out there,” he gestured towards space. “I’ll see that he follows along as he can; can’t have the both of you blasting outta here right after this.” He said indicating the bodies. Right again Raztlain figured, but he certainly hated to let the other Jedi out of his sight now. He nodded, Klev’s advice had paid off more than once, perhaps it was time for the Jedi to learn to trust others again. “Right,” he said as he grasped hands with the fellow one last time. He turned back towards his ship and boarded. Moments later he lifted off and cautiously made his way to the stars. Klev watched him go until he could no longer see him then muttered. “Thank you, for the first time in years I feel...hope. May the Force be with you laddie…” With that he sighed and turned towards the other one who was still watching warily. Added (13 Nov 2010, 12:19 PM) --------------------------------------------- He sighed heavily as he surveyed the carnage surrounding him. The authorities would arrive soon, something like a firefight in broad daylight was bound to attract attention. More likely more Imperial troops would show first; it was unlikely that one of these fellows had not gotten a message off before he died. Imperial: the word even tasted sour when he simply thought it. They had destroyed his home, burned his crops, and murdered his child, and for what? Because he’d localized a small resistance to their regime. He kept a special place in his heart for the hatred he felt for them, a small fire burning, eternally fueled by the memory of that horrific night; that and the garrison of clones that had been stationed on planet in the aftermath. Part of him regretted it, the resistance, part did not. The part that did was the one who saw the lonliness in his wife’s eyes every time they sat down to dinner. The part that didn’t was the part that saw the injustices forced on non-humans and women by the so called New Order. Something had needed done, and the neighbors had begged his help, told him of things to come, convinced him that he, and he alone, could make the difference. Then, when the time came for retribution, they fled and left him to bear the burden. Part of him hated them for that, for their cowardice, and that part would never go either. He had barely restrained himself from ending his onetime best friends life the last time he had seen him; that being shortly after the murder. One look in Klev’s eyes was all it took for the other to be sure that he was no longer welcome. Klev had seen none of them again. He figure that they got their own eventually. For himself he’d been content to carve out a small piece of calm where he could live out the rest of his life in peace; he’d succeeded too. He’d succeeded too, until the Jedi came seeking refuge. How could a man like Klev turn him down? He’d done what he always did, opened his home, turned up the spare bed, made sure there was food aplenty, and loaded his guns. There wass something about the Jedi though, a romanticism, a boldness that one could feel. There was good there, a common heart, a person who fought for justice in every case, no matter what. A person who would not shrink from his duty when it came time to pay the cost. A man, in short, that Klev could admire. A commotion had started on the far side of the arena, raised voices and scuffling, and coming nearer. “Time to go,” Klev said gruffly. He shouldered his weapon and looked back up to where the Jedi potential had been standing; unsurprisingly the youth was not to be seen but Klev figured he’d be near. He used the ships for support as he stepped gingerly around the bodies and started up the hill with a heavy limp; a product of old age coupled with a final ‘warning’ on that day. When he reached the top he looked around but there was nothing to be seen, which again did not surprise him, but he did feel like he was being watched. It was not a menace that he felt, or feared, but more like a curiosity. Slowly he removed his rifle from his shoulder and lowered it to the ground butt first. He leaned it against the nearest ship and took one unsteady step away. “Look son, I ain’t here to hurt you, an’ neither was that other one. He’s lookin’ to find others like you, gather em up an’ help em learn what it is to be a Jedi,” he said to the air, his aged voice sounded kind but gritty from years of use. He sighed. “Come on out son, I can tell you how to find ‘im, ‘fore they find you.”

| A hand wrapped around a cool saber hilt with the blue blade drawn was still shaking in her hand. When she heard the voice of a man calling some boy trying to ignore it with all that was in her but she was failing at it all to well. With a sigh she finally peaked around the corner of where she was using like a shield before. The stink was enough to kill you alone so no one was looking there. “ I am not a boy “ she called out with a sigh slipping in behind the side of the cover again closing her eyes.. “ shake it Ry that could be trouble” she told her self with a very deep sigh closing her eyes to focus on the force itself. Letting her mind clear for a long moment pushing her thoughts away so the man could feel where she was going laying her saber hit on the ground so he would know where it was truly... Her black boots covered in dirt moved slowly and silently through the rubbish that lay everywhere around her. Walking with careful steps around still even the cloak of the young one was gone. That had been used for something else that would haunt her for a while. Swift movement using the wind to help her stepping right up behind the man tapping her boots together with a grin at him. Folding her arms over in front of her. “Who you looking for mister?”

| Klev shuffled around so that he could see her when she spoke, his aged limbs creaking with the effort. He barely heard when she said and only caught a glimps of her as she ducked back behind her cover, none-the-less he grunted, half with shock and half with amusement. Then he chuckled. “Not a boy,” he mused. “Goes to show that even them Jedi are wrong sometimes.” He was talking to himself now, as elderly people are sometimes prone to do, and not paying attention so when she tapped his shoulder he gave a start and shuffled around to see her again. “Can’t do that to an old man, stop ‘is ticker right fast.” He said crossly, but the youthful face softened him almost before the words were out of her mouth. “Well,” he said gruffly. “Judgin’ by that glowstick you got I’d say I found him…’cept the him’s a her.” He chuckled again. “Seem’s we got a mutual friend, got a lightenin’ stick just like what you got there,” he said with a gesture toward her weapon. "Best keep that handy, them ain't exactly the friendly sort." “Got us some mutual enemies too,” he said as he looked back the way he’d come. He stepped gingerly back to his weapon and with one fluid motion that belied his aged he secured and cocked it. “Best get you home for a spell. No leavin’ now. Ma’ll look after you,” he said as his eyes trailed down her taking in every detail like one would examine a Bantha to decide if it was time for slaughter. “She’ll get some soup on too, looks like you could use a meal or two…and a bath…” And with that Klev started walking. He had never been one for conversation, it just wasn’t profitable. Say what needed said then move on; so that is what he did.

| The young lady looked down at herself and then up at the old man with a smirk etching her face he seemed like a kind old man in ways. “Anyone who thinks who they can not make a mistake is arrogant and will fall “ She said to him with a slight giggle. “Well I hope I am a girl mister or someone has some explaining to do “ She said to him looking over at her saber hilt reaching an open palm in that direction. With the will of the force as her friend. The abilities of the girl pulled the cool metal to her hand. Wrapping her fingers around the sliver curved handle slipping her finger over the button to disengage it letting the blade disappear from the night. With a soft of frown whispering gently the man not even of heard her. .. “This was my masters... I do not know where he is... “ Looking up at him listing to him speaking a slight smile slipped to her face. He seemed like a silly old man but anything was better than hanging here and getting killed or something worse. ” don’t worry anything happens I will get you going again “ She said to him meaning about scaring him like she did. Think about it a moment biting down on her lower lips some. Thinking about the way she had moved making her way around it had been a good stance of ready if he had been trouble for her. “Hey I am not that dirty, a little dirt never hurt anyone. “ She said to him stepping on what she thought was a solid rock. Only to find herself sink in ash. Looking down at her leg that slipped beneath the ground reaching her hand down to brush the ash from the top of her boot so that it did not sink inside. Leaning back a little bit to pull her boot out. “Um, well I guess it never hurts clean up... “ She said some what shyly running to catch up with the old man. With a few quick movements of shaking the ash from her body and boots grumbling about her ruined boots to herself mainly. “What is your name sir? And something to eat sounds really good right now?” With all the fighting that had been going on. She had run out of rations and could not remember the last time she did eat.

| As a man of action Klev had not waited around on her, as such he hadn’t really heard most of what she said until she caught up to him. He answered her without breaking stride or even looking down at her. “Name’s Klev.” He rarely gave out his last name, and that only when he absolutely had to. He shielded his eyes against the rising morning sun as they made their way away from the port, his aging limping legs carrying him far faster than one would have guessed. He never slowed for anyone, and he never rushed for them either. As they journeyed (it was a fair distance to the farm) he contemplated his life to this point. He’d never had any aspiration, even before the Empire evolved from the crumbling Republic that he’d served. After he ‘did his time’ he had been content to live quietly and peacefully with his small family doing what he loved best: growing. He’d had several long years of it too, before the demonstrations started. Brien had wanted to join the local resistance group, and Klev was going to let him; as a matter of fact he’d though seriously about joining as well, fighting for the justice that was surely being left far behind. They never got the chance, tyranny caught up faster than anyone expected. Now, all these years later Klev was left with regret for not avenging his son sooner. He could have still fought, even if his neighbors and friends refused. He and his family had been targeted and when it was done he sat back in his rocking chair and aged out of the fight. He’d lived for years simply accepting when he could not change, and watching his wife age along with him, listening to her cry herself to sleep and watching her falter when she sat one too many plates at the dinner table…and he’d done nothing! If he had been on the outside observing in he would have know that he was working himself into a frenzy and that soon he’d make a monumental decision, but he was just an ordinary man with no Jedi in him. * * * * * Raztlain was getting positively edgy even though it had only been a couple of hours since his flight. His intention had been to go into a Jedi Trance where he could meditate about the best manning in which to approach the new Jedi. Instead he’d been wide awake and staring at his displays so hard that his gritty eyes hurt from the effort. It was an awful risk really, leaving his vessel powered thus, at nearly ready stance, but that thought was far to the back of his mind. “Chipper,” he said suddenly. “I need a scan of that marker…perhaps it was faulty, perhaps he’s gone already.” A series of beeps and squawks answered him; it was nonsense to most but several Jedi had been known to have the ability to understand what their droids meant without looking at the translation. Alies did not even bother with the effort this time. “No, you’re probably right, but what happened?” He said reading the display. More beeps. “Right, yeah, I guess we can give it a bit more time, but not long. I mean it Chipper, you wake me in two hours and we’ll go back down." The droid squawked an affirmative and started the full shutdown sequence. Everything but minimal auxiliary life support went, a Jedi in hibernation breathed so little as to not even need it for only a couple hours, little did Raztlain know that the Chipper had more faith in Klev than Alies himself did.

| It did not take her long to catch up with him taking long steps and slow breaths so that she did not get tired to fast or anything. Looking up at him with her brown eyes when he said his name to her letting the sun shine off her face showing just how dirty she was. “ They call my Ry, well unless I am in trouble then I get the whole thing. “ She said to him with a touch of a smile on her face looking over at the sunrise. The young jedi took heavy steps feeling the ground of dust move under her feet. Letting the rays of the sun shine on the dust particles around her looking up with a deep breath if a person looked on at the girl and man if would look like they were coming from a war after it was all over. For a brief moment in time she felt like she amounted to something. When the sun caught her eyes causing her to look away the vision was gone...

| That earned a chuckle, which sounded more like the old man was clearing his throat. He did not respond, always one to keep his attention on the task at hand. It took little more than a half hour to get to the farm during which Klev never broke stride or slowed. Even at seventy-four he still walked the farm every day, this was no different really. When he stepped up on the porch he stepped to his rocker and sat slowly, leaned his rifle against the wall and sat back for a moment. He did not offer her a seat and he did not speak for a time. Slowly his eyes closed and by all appearances he was asleep, but it lasted only a couple minutes until, with a heavy sigh, he heaved himself forward and tugged off his worn boots. “You’ll wanna take off your shoes, ma’s murder on dirt on her floor,” he said with a voice muffled by the effort of bending at a slightly too wide waist. It too a another full tow minute for his shoes to come off, and another of rest before he stood and walked in the door. Like they did in days gone by he held the door for her and shut it only when she had stepped in. “Dragged in another did ya?” She said from her perch next to the unlit fireplace. She too sat in a rocker and this chair was the exact replica of the one outside, even down to the sun faded paint. She was knitting an afghan and went back to humming softly as soon as the words were out of her mouth. Klev nodded. “Name’s Ry as she says it, friend of the boy as was here I’d guess.” Then he turned to the girl. “This is my wife, Vera. She’ll answer to Ma or Mrs. Caste.”

| Walked with him in full step she was no slouch when it came to walking. Walking along side of him in silence for a long time thinking over everything that it seemed like it all set in at once over whelming the girl causing her not to say anything either for the rest of the walk. When her soft gaze looked over the porch it shook her from her dazed state with a tilt of her head to the side watching him go up the chair. When he closed his eyes “gee Kelv you okay?” she asked him sounding a bit worried when he closed his eyes. Walking up the steps without a sound by her boots that were so heavy and dirty it seemed. Kneeling down to try and look up in his eyes when he opened them “don’t scare a young one like that might lose my ticker” she said to him a playfulness of words to him. Playing back on what he said to her before. “Okay sure, we do not want to get into any trouble” She said with a soft giggle sitting down on the edge of the step and slipping her boot off pouring the dirt out... and frowning lightly with the thought of it. Slipping the other boot off and doing the same with a sigh setting them on the side so that they would not be in the way of anything. Getting up and stepping inside bowing gently at her waist properly there to respect the man and his wife... “Hello, ma’am thank you for letting me stay here for the time “she said to them taking in the surroundings in the small farm house. She thought about the fire fight and it made her face frown a little to think how close it was something had to be done about it she thought. “Boy? What boy?” She asked looking at the old man for a long moment and then at the wife with a soft smile on her face. “It is an honor to meet you, ma’am what would you prefer me to call you?”

| Vera listened quietly and, after the girl was finished speaking, sat for a moment thinking. It seemed a thing that elderly folk did often. Finally her lip quirked in what was unmistakably a grimace and she spoke. “Call me Ma, ma’am makes me feel I’m a school teacher, which I certainly ain’t. Well, don’t just stand there dad, go fetch the basin while I put on some water, poor girl looks like she’s been sleepin’ under the wagon for a week.” With that she stood (taking every bit as long as Klev had when he stood but with far less grunting) and started towards the kitchen. Here there were several clay pots full of water, one of which she stooped and picked up, another extreme effort for aged arms. This she poured into a large kettle, which was hanging conveniently over already prepared logs, and, with practiced fingers that were far more nimble than they looked, struck a spark into the kindling. Soon there was a fire roaring and the water was heating. Klev came back shortly thereafter and announced that the ‘basin’ was on the back porch and half full of water. He took the large kettle, now boiling, and deposited three quarters of the water into the tub, brought the rest back in and resumed its place over the fire. “Now,” Vera said sternly to Rylain, “you step on out there and get cleaned up and when you’re finished make sure and stir those clothes of yours in there for a spell. Can’t hurt to clean those up a bit. Ill be out shortly with something’ll fit you and Klev here’ll be certain his eyes are fasted out the front.” Without waiting for Rylain to move she shooed her out the door. “Now, be sure you’re not out there too long, night’ll drop off colder’n one would think, and fast. Soup’ll be one ‘fore you’re done.” Finished speaking her advice she turned back to the door and stepped inside.

| There was a soft smile to the woman when she said what to call her thinking of her own mum at that moment though she did not know anything like that she pushed the thought away so very quickly. “Yes Ma” She said to her with a smile watching the two people there before her speaking to each other it was cute to watch them. Looking down at her cloths a moment okay well maybe she was a bit dirty but what can you do when you’re caught in the middle of the war all around them. There was no time to take a powder or anything. Though she grinned a bit at the wagon statement that she had been compared to but well think about what she had been in was just well it would make any person shiver. All the sudden moving to attention when she heard Vera’s tone of voice looking up at her with a nod. “Yes Ma, I will do it right away “ She said to her with a soft giggle of the young teenager getting shoed out of the room. She did smile when Kelv got told not to peak. Slipping out of her dirty cloths dropping them in the tub like she was told to do reaching to take off her sock and wrinkled her nose with a groan... “Oh geese... really... “ she muttered to herself softly dropping into the tub as well. She went to step into the water that had been made for her... With a shiver all the sudden not realizing how cold that she had been in the first place. She wondered if she was getting sick or something now... She reached over to pick up the cloth to wash up her young form. Dunking under the warm water to get her long hair washed as well... And so no one could see her either.

| It had been well more than two hours already and Chipper was humming softly to himself as he watched the readouts for any sign of activity. He would have let Alies sleep until the Jedi showed up, even after reading a communique across Imperial channels; it's point of origin where Raztlain had left, it's destination the spaceport. It was a short message, only an update and a request for instructions, but it was enough. He did let the Jedi sleep for a time, but even he, with his electronic brain, was starting to get worried. The persistent trilling was enough to start a coronary event in most people, for a Jedi it was still enough to jolt him awake with enough force to power through the usual sluggishness. His hands started flying across the control panel nearly before his eyes were fully open and he perceived through the fog that something had gone wrong with Klev or the young Force user. “What is it Chipper?” He asked he forced the preflights through faster than they were designed to go. After a series of beeps Raztlain finally slowed down. “You what?” He asked incredulously. “I gave you specific instructions to wake me in two hours, not three, not four, and certainly not six!” More beeps, these sounding even to the normal person like sarcasm. “I would not have...and you think this is a better way? Well, it's a bit late to change that now isn't it, I swear, next port we visit you're getting an attitude adjustment.” This was followed by a particularly loud bleet. “Oh do shut up and let me figure a way out of this now.” Alies said irritably. * * * * * Vera was humming loudly, a tune that sounded something like a cross between a tavern tune and a spiritual hymn, while she stirred her stew. A powerful smell was wafting from it that only some would think of as savory. Klev, obediently, sat on the front porch slowly rocking and staring off into the distance. After a time Vera disappeared into her room to retrieve something for the girl to wear while her clothes dried. The back door opened and a small stack of laundry preceded Vera out into the brisk air. “Best be makin' it quick, sun's droppin' of fair fast tonight,” she said as she dropped the clothes beside the tub. “Towel's on top,” she said as she turned back to the house. Once inside she proceeded to the front door where she called for her husband. In moments he was in the living room with her. “Hope you know what your doin'...got a feelin' this time,” she said. He groaned as he sat in his chair beside the fireplace and leaned over to poke the coals around. “Let em come,” he said simply. “Let em come. I need a bit more adventure before I pass on.” Surprisingly Vera only nodded.

| Her young head came up out of the water first as she reached her hand through her long hair to brush the extra water out of it catching a glimpse of the woman coming out with the cloths. It sure did feel good to be clean again she had forgotten what it felt like to be such. “Yes Ma “ She called out to her with a soft giggle in her voice not wasting too much time or anything. Reaching through the force to summon the towel to her hand as she stood wrapping it around her stepping out of the water glancing back over her shoulder with a frown noticing how dark the water had been. The young girl had not taken time to take in all that happened around her during the raid. Drying off and wrapping the soft towel around her head. She slipped into the clean cloths with a sigh of relief taking in the scent of them with a slight smile. She looked over at her cloths and groaned a little bit. Reaching her hands up to towel dry her hair good before setting it on the like, there was no reason she could not help out a little bit. She went to hang up her wet cloths if they had not been put up already... “I am coming in... “ She called to let her know that she was not playing games or anything.

| Klev and Vera were not noted among the great conversationalists so when Rylain poked her head in to announce that she was entering the house she was met with silence. Were she to go to the living room she would see that Vera was in her rocker, close to the fire, rocking and humming her song again while Klev sat with his elbows on his knees on the couch staring at the wooden floor. He looked to be calculating something so it was little surprise when he sat back with a grunt and turned his ice blue eyes towards the youth. “Well, I reckon they'll be along shortly, proba'ly should have a bite 'fore they get here,” he said gruffly. It took a moment for him to stand and when he did he offered his hand to his wife. She looked at it for a long time as though counting the wrinkles nodding and humming the whole while. Finally her humming was replaced with a loud sigh and she too stood taking Klev's hand lovingly for support. Really, it was the picture of perfection, the aged couple nearing the end of their lives still clinging to one another as tightly as the day they had wed. Anyone witnessing this would have expected some loving comment from either, if not both, sets of lips. Rylain heard this. “Bowls is in the cupboard, spoons underneath,” was directed her way from Vera as she and Klev started plodding towards the overlarge table. There was very little in the way of cabinetry in the kitchen so it was not a hard search for them, and a good thing too because Vera sat down at the table without a second glance towards Rylain while Klev removed the kettle from the fire and heaved it to the table. He set in in the center where a black scorched place showed where many a meal had been served. He stirred it gingerly and waited for the bowls to be laid out. * * * * * Alies had formulated a plan and, ignoring the plaintive tones of the droid, kicked it into gear with the powering of the ship to ready status. There was going to be no hiding now so he didn't bother to skulk around as he entered the planets atmosphere once again. “That's right Chipper, we're going straight to Klev's home. Yes, I know it's a risk, but it's a risk we have to take, perhaps he'll...they will come along with us. Its the only way.” That last was said quietly as if to reassure himself that it was, in fact, the only way.

| There was a small soft frown etched her face when there was no sound stepping in a bit further to look about and see what the two were doing. It was definitely quiet in this space of where she was looking on at them a moment of thought for some mediation crossed her mind when she saw the old man move. She smiled silently watching what they were doing. It was unlike anything she had ever seen in all her life making her wonder of her own parents and how they did things. It seemed to be like a dream to her of some kind watching them there together in such a perfection. She was afraid to interrupt what was going on there... Though she tilted her head a little bit to the side when the man spoke of someone coming here? She wondered to herself. Though the thought would linger for a while in her mind she could not bring herself to interrupt the perfect picture of what people should see life as. It was definitely strange to her being she was sitting in a fire fight not to long ago. With a slight startle hearing the woman’s voice “Huh... oh... right spoons and bowls I will get them “ She said to her quickly darting into the room reaching to open the cupboard taking out three bowls and spoons. With a pause...in her actions of moving things and was very careful in the process not to break anything. “Ma, how many you want me to take out?” She asked this might also help her figure out what the man was speaking of before...

| Hand in hand they walked to the table leaning on each other for support. Klev pulled out his wife’s chair and she sat before speaking in her usual clipped and somewhat tactless voice. “Well, they’s only three here,” she said in answer to the girl's question. It wasn’t that she was angry or even arrogant though she sounded both with each word she spoke. It was a simple thing really; she had come from a different time where things just…were…to her. Klev tried unsuccessfully to hide a smile while stirring and earned himself a stern look from her. “Well com’on then, dinner’ll be right cold shortly." She said as she frowned at Klev. He had remained standing while waiting for Rylain but his eyes were fixed upon Vera’s whose wore a tired and almost worried shadow. He grimaced, it was all coming back to him too. * * * * * The cockpit filled with a heavy whine as the engines powered up far too quickly and Chipper whined in protest as the ship’s inertial compensator failed to do its job. “What’s our ETA?” Alies questioned. The answer came on the heels of a loud screech from the squat droid. The Jedi snarled and pushed the ship even harder.
