| Once again, the trademark of Shiva's operations came into view near Volus, though far enough away from any weapons or patrol routes that it could be easily intercepted. The Theta shuttle was scanning the system, looking for the varied craft that Volus made, using visual sensors to ascertain the level of completion that the Avenger currently sat at. It was a beautiful vessel, to be sure, and Shiva intended that Volus should not be able to keep it.

| Due to the attack on the Vjun station, Volus was obviously going to be on high alert with construction on the ship at a pause right now though it still sat in its berth. The shuttle would not be able to detect much from range due to standard military jammers already in place and in operation. However, as soon as the Theta shuttle was detected a group of Z-95 head hunters would line up in the direction of the shuttle. The Volusians were not going to take any chances especially since the last attack had began with the Theta shuttle arriving.

| Visual scanners told quite a lot on their own, as did the quick response from the Z-95s. By the time they came in weapons range though, the Theta would have been well turned around and beginning, if not already having made its jump to hyperspace.

| Even as the ship turned to escape the Z-95s would send a message to the shuttle informing it to shut down its engines firing several warning shots from outside of the range. They knew it would escape, for now, but at least they would send a clear message to the raiders. They had nothing that Volus couldn't handle. They had a lot more than a single gun platform and a squadron of fighters to go up against with Volus and if they attacked they would regret it.

| A day passed, perhaps a little more. Call it twenty-six hours, and again, from a quite different location, but still in Volusian space, a Theta-class shuttle emerged. If any threats were close enough to engage, it would flee back to hyperspace. Barring any immediate threats though, it would initiate a high-powered visual scan of the system and of anything within range that could be of use. That included moons, asteroids and naturally occurring spacial objects, before it would jump to hyperspace.

| As it happened the Theta-class shuttle would drop out just as a squadron of Z-95s was on patrol in the region of the system. They would send a comm telling the shuttle to shut down its engines, if it did not comply or tried to even so much as twitch they would move to open fire on the ships engines aiming to disable the ship before it stood a chance of escape.

| Not having heard from the Gamma-class as it had headed off for Nal Hutta, the Z-95 headhunter which had previously appeared appeared once again well away from the hyperspace jump points, keeping its hyperdrive hot and ready to leave if threatened. It was well out of range of this squadron of fighters and just scanned the system for the transponder signal of the Gamma-class. The pilot answered any queries also claiming to be Pilot Officer Higgins and providing the same fake code of the man the Politico knows. Keenly evading and moving away from any approaching Volusians or Independents.

| ((I am continuing this cautiously pending Imperial involvement. As it seems Volus is not receiving an Interdictor, I don't think it will be a problem.)) By luck or by chance, when the Theta emerged upon the squadron, it was on their formation's right flank. Of course, this would mean there was no scanning involved in the system. Instead, it was a quick reaction. Being momentarily out of their line of fire and having, in a sense, the element of surprise, the shuttle's pilot opened fire on the closest pair of Z-95s with a dual set of quad laser cannons. At the close range, it was likely to be devastating, especially as he wrenched his craft to the left and around, aiming to circle but still firing, strafing across a good half of the formation. The pilot had to get out of there quickly. He knew what was coming shortly behind him.

| All the Z-95 would get is a bunch of dead spots because its scanners would be jammed as soon as it entered the system as it had apparently not changed its transponder code. If they couldn't get to it, the ship would just be completely jammed of any useful information. The shuttle would indeed have the element of surprise, however, the shields of the one Z-95 would absorb the few shots able to get in its vicinity before the formation broke apart in multiple different directions making its move to strafe them impossible and would make it exceedingly difficult to even get two ships in a similar firing vector. Several fighters after having broken off from the group would loop back around, each one coming back in from a different direction aiming to knock down the shuttle's shields and then quickly it's engines.

| Forcing the Z-95s to break formation would be all the shuttle pilot would need to maneuver. It had a slower acceleration than the Z-95, true, but it was currently maneuvering directly into its escape route whereas the Z-95s had to break and clear before maneuvering around to attack. As such, the shuttle already had a decent head start. The pilot lowered frontal shields to twenty-five percent, giving an extra fifty percent to the rear shields and putting the rest into the engines, adding on a burst of speed. The rear gunner, a capable man, was more than able to lay down a barrage of fire, accurate even as the shuttle juked and jinked, though not as accurate as it could have been. It was more of a suppressive fire than actually aiming to kill. Of course, they didn't need more time to calculate a jump to hyperspace. A handful of shots impacted on the rear shields, not enough to drop the shields though, simply lower them. The shuttle only had to survive a few moments longer.

| The Z-95's would set up in pursuit increasing their forward shields while trying to avoid the fire from the rear gunner. They already knew that it was unlikely that they were going to catch him right now but they would at least send him out with a message that they weren't going to be push overs for any group of Pirates to attack Volus. On the other side of the system, unseen by the shuttle craft, a group of ships would drop out of hyperspace and would make towards one of the space station. A couple of the larger ones would begin to turn around to leave the system right away dropping groups of fighters out as well as a couple of larger ships almost 150 meters long. The makeshift fleet would make its way to the station where it would begin to dock and crews would begin to shift over from the delivery company to Volusian forces. Fighters would begin receiving maintenance and checks from the Volusian teams. It was almost as if they had been expecting these new ships to arrive.

| The Theta continued to dodge laser fire and return its own. By all rights, it had its hyperjump course set in and could jump at any time, but it needed to make a distraction a bit longer. As such, the gunner continued to fire from the rear, though still with little luck of killing any of the Z-95s. The pilot and the crew were putting their lives on the line, but it was for a good reason. Then the sucker punch came. The Red Mynock pirates dropped out almost right behind where the shuttle had originally emerged at, placing them somewhat to the flank of the Z-95s. The telemetry data gathered by the Theta was transmitted to them by the communications officer on the shuttle, giving the Mynocks the placement of the squadron of Z-95s. The Gloom was the closest to the Headhunters and it opened fire almost immediately with its pair of dual laser cannon turrets and double turbolaser turret, turning to follow the Theta's path. Below it and to the fore was the Toad's Edge, its rotating laser cannon swiveling to bear on the Volusian fighters while the ship itself moved to follow the path of the Gloom, which in turn would bring its trio of blaster cannons to bear on the Z-95s. Above and to the rear of the Gloom, the Caliph's Sun equaled the maneuver being performed by the aforementioned pair of vessels, its ion cannon and quad laser cannon cutting out towards the squadron of fighters as well. It stood to reason that as of this attack, the Z-95s would break their formation chasing the Theta and as such, the three ships would roll while continuing their turn and maneuver to keep the Z-95s in the sight and range of as many of their cannons as possible. From the Toad's Edge would be emitted a jamming signal, blocking communications from the Headhunters while they remained the radius. Odds were quite small that an emergency message would get out. The party wasn't about to end there though, not by a long shot.

| As soon as the jump was detected, which would be several moments before the ships arrived the lead Z-95 would send a signal out warning even as the pirates exploded in around them dropping out of hyperspace. The z-95s would break off of the theta deciding to let it go and would stabilize their shields scattering to reposition not to head towards the pirates but instead towards the planet itself turning up their rear shields as soon as they had their backs to the pirates and accelerating at full speed back towards Volus. Nearby right off the Vjun space station the signal had been received by a pair of ships who would send a prepared coded message to the Imperial Tartans letting them know that they were departing and why, and with calculations having been long since made, would make the jump to hyperspace. The reason why the Z-95s were retreating would become quickly obvious as several squadrons of various fighters emerged from around the planet accelerating to meet the pirates.

| The Theta escaped unscathed to hyperspace, its part in this particular little sortie complete. In the time it would take for the Volusian pilots to receive the message and make the jump to hyperspace, the trio of freighters would have already begun their turn and attack run, which meant the arriving fighters would be greeted with a trio of vessels preparing to jump to hyperspace. Here, with their rear deflectors powered up and chaff or flare launchers ready, as well as weapons heated and more than willing to fire, the Volusians would find their advantage in numbers meant little.

| It would have taken almost no time as they had sent the message as soon as the hyperspace wake was received and as such with the short distance to the corvettes who would now arrive out of hyperspace to the side of the pirates and would immediately begin to coordinate their fire onto the various ships with the bulk of their firepower being directed towards the engines of the larger ship. The fighters themselves would take some several minutes to reach the fleet but that was what the corvettes were for to buy the fighters time to reach the group so that the Volusian advantage in numbers would mean something.
