| Pestage sighed, his patience beginning to wane and his headache, sadly, doing just the opposite. "You might as well ask her if she believes in molators," he said, doing his best to hide his exasperation from his voice out of respect for Deschain, but succeeding in doing so only partially. "Inquisitor," he went on, trying a different approach, "An Imperial world has come under attack by a Jedi and what appears to be a network of resistors, with ships, resources, and probably a base. Have you asked him about any of this? This is the priority here, surely. Well, a priority among other priorities, none of which are the Senator of Volus." "That said," he sighed, "I do not mean to dismiss your suspicions, and if it will reassure you, Inquisitor, I can have the ISB conduct an investigation into the Senator, her activities, and her associations. It must be done delicately, though. Right now, I have to assure that the Senator tells no one of this. I would have her killed, but this is not an option. And I have no desire to make concessions to her for her cooperation, but I may have to if you proceed with this invasive questioning. Truly, Inquisitor, let it go. If the Senator is up to something, we'll find out about it. In the meantime, you're needed elsewhere... and so am I, for that matter." He raised an eyebrow, as if to ask Deschain if there was anything else.

| "But of course, Chairman. As always, I defer to your wisdom." Deschain kept his voice neutral and offered a seated bow. "I shall leave the Senator here to recover her... ah... self, and I shall meet with Admiral Corvus presently to ensure the situation of piracy on Volus is dealt with. I shan't trouble the Senator further on this matter, Chairman." The truth of Deschain's words were slightly subject. By all means, if he could corner Star and get a confession, he might well be tempted. In the meantime, there were other ways to find things and other people who would be more likely to give up answers... perhaps Motour's daughter would be more forthcoming under certain means of interrogation. "You have my word that the miscreants who would assault an Imperial world will be brought to justice."

| Crin began to stir once again due to the blood returning to her head coming out of unconsciousness though still down enough to not be aware of what was being said despite her proximity to it. What the inquisitor didn't know was that he wouldn't have access to the princess soon as she would be heading to Imperial Center with Crin as soon as the Senator was able to leave. There it would be hard to track them down and with his words to leave her alone to the Vizier it was highly improbably that the inquisitor would be able to corner Crin or Anja.

| Deschain had stated he stated he would not trouble Crin Star on this particular matter. Anja Motour, her father or any other of the Volusian nobility were still suspect. Deschain had also not stated his men would not take care of things in his absence; by all means, the High inquisitor intended to keep a presence at the Volusian palace and a platoon would be unobtrusive enough yet effective enough to be a reminder of Deschain's presence. Added (26 Jan 2011, 10:04 Am) --------------------------------------------- If Pestage had no more to say, Deschain would bid the man good day. With a last look at Star, the Inquisitor would silently leave the room, heading for a quiet place where he could draft the high security message to the Grand Vizier. There was still a meeting to be held with Corvus, if time could be found, but Deschain needed to get planetside as quickly as possible. Captain Proul had to be given certain orders and a watch had to be set on the King's daughter. Things were still amiss. Added (28 Jan 2011, 8:56 Am) --------------------------------------------- Deschain had been in the Volusian docking bay, ready to board his craft when the word came through: Anja Motour had applied to succed Crin Star in the Senate. Captain Proul was present as well, accepting final instructions. Deschain saw an opportunity here. "Captain, I am returning to Imperial Center. I will be unavailable for some time. Keep the Volusians in line. I have drafted orders authorizing you to act with my authority. Admiral Corvus is your contact here for reinforcements. I ish for you to continue investigating Star. Without her diplomatic immunity as Senator, sh is just another Volusian. If you can, arrest her an get a confession about Jedi involvement. Good luck, Captain." With that, Deschain would board his ship and depart.

| It wasn't long after Deschain had departed that another vessel emerged from Hyperspace, a Nu-class Attack Shuttle from the days of the Republic, painted in silver and crimson livery and transmitting an Imperial code. Not wishing to be delayed, the pilot had messaged Volusian air traffic control ahead of arrival, and requested - or rather, demanded - that Captain Proul be on hand to meet him upon arriving. Whether or not the Captain would be there was a trivial matter - Kroenen didn't expect the man had loyalties to any one particular being within the Empire - but for certain was the fact that the High Inquisitor was in no mood to be held up. His impatience was almost tangible as, after an escort of four Stormtroopers, he swept from the depths of his vessel and waved the gathering coolant steam away with one hand, the Force blowing it out of his face and removing him from obscurity. Such flippant uses of the Force would be frowned upon in many circles, and Kroenen cared little for any one of them. It was his tool, his weapon; he would not be preached to about when and when not to utilise it. He scanned the landing area in silence, his jaw set in a look of distaste. His sunken eyes seemed to repel light, a pair of black holes set against his angular pale face, accentuated only by the crimson tattoos running from his eyes to his chin, and as they found the figure of a local spaceport guard, pinpricks of red seemed to burn to life where the pupils of a human would be. He was a mysterious being, and even the Stormtroopers that had travelled with him seemed somehow different; a little more rigid than was normal, perhaps. No order was needed as the High Inquisitor began to stride away from his ship; the troopers fell into line in dead silence, somehow keeping up with their Master despite his steel resolve to hurry things. A clear head and shoulders above everyone around him, Captain Polus would have no trouble spotting Kroenen in a crowd.

| Captain Proul, empowered by direct orders from High Inquisitor Deschain, was not precisely late meeting with Kroenen. He wasn't quite early to be there either. As Deschain had ordered him, he was to ensure that Volus kept running smoothly and efficiently and that was what Proul did: interviews, investigations and other tedious work. For today's purposes though, Proul did not come alone to the landing pad. Two lieutenants accompanied him, their weapons loosely cradled in their arms as many of the Purifiers had taken to carrying in such a fashion. Proul did not approve necessarily of the slight lapse, but he allowed it within reason. In this case though, a sharply whispered admonition brought the weapons back up to the ready. There, ahead, was Kroenen. "Inquisitor Kroenen, welcome to Volus. In trust your trip was uneventful?"

| Kroenen didn't pass comment on Proul's slight tardiness, nor the absense of 'High' from his title in the Captain's greeting; again, such matters would have been viewed differently by other circles, but Kroenen wasn't here on ceremony. Concerning the apostate, rumblings had begun to spread throughout the echelons of the Inquisitorius. Nothing severe, but it was always best to stem the flow before it became a flood. He didn't blame Deschain, for it would be pointless and unproductive to lay blame on any one, ten, or hundred beings in the Empire for what had transpired. But he did want to see it come to an abrupt end. "My trip was uneventful, and as such, unnecessary to how our conversation proceeds, Captain" the High Inquisitor replied in a deep, throaty voice, which sounded like his vocal chords needed lubricating. "You inform me that High Inquisitor Deschain has departed and left you, for all intents and purposes, in charge. Do I also take this to mean that you are privy to his ongoing investigation concerning the Apostate, aforementioned in the transmission I sent and you duly intercepted?" he asked, not bothering to use the Force to sway the mans tongue. He was more than certain that Proul was going to be as cooperative as he could be.

| Proul, frankly speaking, was a practical man. He knew his ability to 'act in Inquisitor Deschain's stead' was largely dependent on how the local populace viewed him and how well he got along with Admiral Corvus in orbit. One company of Purifiers could hardly stem an entire revolt, after all. If Deschain hadn't left strict orders that one entire platoon was to remain on the Avenger, Proul would have recalled them to the Volusian palace. "I am privy to the events up to High Inquisitor Deschain's leaving of Volus to Imperial Center. Beyond that, Inquisitor Kroenen, I'm afraid I do not have much to go on." There again came the lack of the full title in Kroenen's name. The High Inquisitor was welcome to take it for what it was: a subtle sign that Proul was indeed loyal to the Empire, but loyal in some regards to Deschain, who had handpicked him and his men for a special duty that gave them prestige above a good many units in the Empire. "I'm afraid that Volus is a rather a dead end, at least to us. I've taken the liberty of having a full datapad loaded with all pertinent information." Proul reched into a waist pouch and retrieved the datapad.

| "Volus is not my business, lest there be an erstwhile Inquisitor hiding here with his Jedi friend" Kroenen replied, curtly but with a hint of irritation, as he took the datapad from the Captain. "Whatever Deschain was doing here, I'm sure he had his reasons. His departure tells me that there was nothing to be found here, and leaving behind a squad of mere soldiers impresses upon me the idea that he finds it possible, though unlikely, that the target will stop at Volus". It was a mere observation on his part, though he did notice the slight offense he may have caused Captain Proul after speaking. "If this is all you have concerning Deschain's hunt for the Apostate, I'll be departing momentarily. I'm sure you have menial business to attend to here on Volus, and my presence is required elsewhere" he said, looking down at the Captain as if expecting him to remember some forgotten information, or offer any other assistance.

| Snapping to attention, the action mirrored by the pair of lieutenants behind him, Proul gave Kroenen a salute. "Nothing further, Inquisitor." Deschain had not disclosed his conversation between himself and Sate Pestage to Proul, so there was no reason for the man to know that. Likewise, there was no way for Proul to know that Deschain had not actually gone to Imperial Center. The High Inquisitor's words were indeed a tad insulting, but having offered the original offense, Proul knew he was in no place to take it as anything but water under the bridge. "Good hunting, High Inquisitor."

| Kroenen similarly offered a salute, as did the Stormtroopers flanking him. "And to you, Captain" he replied, sensing nothing in the way of deception from the other man. Satisfied he'd gotten all he would from Volus, he turned on his heel and followed his guard back to the shuttle, the datapad clutched in one hand, the other resting firmly on the elongated hilt of his lightsaber. Marching up the ramp of his vessel, he took his customary seat in the passenger area, leaving his pilot to negotiate their journey for now. Once time came to take action against the target, he'd likely dismiss his crew entirely, whether they be on land or in space. This was no mission for simple troopers, and their presence onboard was more of a practical matter; the Inquisitorius had requested he travel with a small guard, to enhance the image of being on Imperial business, and to deal with smaller tasks while he focused on finding Sturn. Slipping into deep meditation, he shut out the thrumming of the shuttles engines and the subdued chatter of his men, and stormed the Force for hints as to the whereabouts of the so-called Apostate...
