He had been in hiding within the under-levels of Imperial Center for weeks it seemed. It had taken even longer to make enough contacts within the underworld and through them off of it to arrange for his lightsaber to be shipped to him from where he had hidden it offworld. It had been hidden in the components of a small transport shuttle, which had then been stowed aboard a transport ship that had made its way onto Imperial Center. Then a Twi'lek he'd made contact with, Pala, had gone to the shipyard; snuck onto the transport and taken the weapon - which was taken out by a technician she was 'familiar' with, and given to her.

And so, hiding in the underlevels of Imperial Center, a wanted man for the last several weeks - having assaulted an Imperial Stormtrooper patrol and then fled through the labrynthine of the under level to avoid capture by an inquisitor, Tes'dra Nintra once again had the weapon of his birth right available to him.

But it wasn't with hostile intent that the young man wearing black pants, a long sleeved black shirt with matching belt and combat boots with lightsaber tucked just inside the waistband of his pants, approached the local stormtrooper installation in the underlevels.

He was intent on 'turning himself in', with the intent of becoming a servant of the Empire.

Several streets and a few bends of the road down from where the man would eventually meet the local stormtrooper garrison, a gray-cloaked man stood watching and waiting. While many in the Underlevels bustled about and did not stop, this particular man lounged against the corner of a building as the other male, the one he had recognized as that whom he'd saved from the Inquisitor, moved towards him. It was odd that this man hadn't found his way off Coruscant yet; Maximov refused to call it 'Imperial Center.' By the GenoHaradan, such things as the Empire were impermanent.

He raised a hand in greeting to the other man, calling out just loud enough to be heard. "Going anywhere interesting, stranger?"

It had started with the encounter in Imperial Center under-levels with the woman that he had thought was the prisoner of the Stormtroopers. He had seen something in her eyes that reminded her of someone, but who? In the expedient manner of his escape, Tes'dra thought that surely the kalak was with him that day, whoever had shot the man pursuing him couldn't have been known to Tes'dra, but had helped him none the less. His mother had taught him that everything happens for a reason, whether it be fate or the will of the kalak, he didn't know and she had never presumed to tell him. She had however, taught him that often what men call fate – can only be taken by action. There is no such thing as passive success, she had reminded him. One did not grow by simply being, or accepting what was.

This is what had driven him during his weeks spent hiding from the roving patrols of Stormtroopers, what had kept him motivated when he waited the long days it took for his contacts to arrange for his lightsaber to be snuck onto the planet to him. Someone he remembered.

The first dream was the most vivid, a pair of sad, soulful eyes staring at him from the darkness A viridian blade, dancing alone by itself against a tide of faceless monsters in white, dancing this way and that, slashing against the insurmountable tide that threatened to overwhelm the lonely eyes. In his dream his green blade danced to life in synch with the viridian, lighting up the darkness with terrible ferocity. After that he more dreams, always going to sleep – wherever he was at the time, behind a dumpster, hidden in the back of a restaurant after it had closed and the owner gone home – always he slept those few fitful hours hoping that the eyes would come to him again in his sleep, and sometimes they did.

He had decided that it had to be a woman's eyes. Only a woman's eyes could look the way the one's in his dreams did. He longed to find her, whoever she was. He had also decided that he had never met this woman in his dreams.

As he was walking towards the stormtrooper garrison he heard the man speak that had crossed his path. His dark eyes regarded the man for the instant it took for Tes'dra to decide if this man meant to fight him or not. Was it another servant of the Empire? He glanced around then, his body coming to just the right amount of tension, a slight bend to his knee as his situational awareness heightened. He expected the ambush to happen any moment.

But it didn't come. He raised his hand to return the greeting. Something stood out to him about this man, something familiar. Was it the kalak guiding his path? Was this man standing there in his path for a reason? Fate, perhaps.

“No where in particular.” He answered at first, hesitant – unsure of how much he should tell the familiar stranger. He took several steps closer, coming with close combat range if this man so wished the encounter to go that way. He extended his hand in an attempt to shake the man's in friendly greeting.

“My name is Tes'dra Nintra, and who might you be?”

Taking Tes'dra's hand, for that was what the man had called himself, Maximov shook it warmly, giving a smile as he moved to the side, giving the fellow some room to stand out of the cold. Even here, in the Underlevels, the wind had a bite at times, and the cold had a way of making the dreary surroundings seems even worse. Maximov did not stay in the Underlevels often, but today seemed to have a decent reason.

"What's in a name, eh, Tes'dra? Still... Dimitri Maximov. I doubt I'm the first to have worn that name and when I pass, undoubtedly someone else will pick it up and continue running with it. Still, it suits me as well as any other and, my new friend, it happens to be the real name. Oh, I doubt you'd find it on any records, but it's a real name nonetheless."

Pausing to pull his cloak about him, for the wind had caught it briefly, he settled himself before continuing. "So, Tes'dra Nintra who is going nowhere in particular, you seem to be heading into the jaws of the Empire. Odd choice for the sort of man who outruns Imperial servants on darkened rooftops."

“I'm looking for someone.” Was his initial answer, he hadn't really considered it. The answer just came to him, and then was spoken. He had felt almost prompted to answer so. He stepped the way Dmitri had moved, getting out of the cold as well.

“Not at all like my home.” He commented, a tribute to the cold draft that was passing through the alleyway. His home-world was much warmer in most parts. Not something he'd go into detail over however, if asked.

“So you were there then?' He asked, finding that he wasn't as suspicious of this man as he might have been of another stranger. His dark eyes glanced around them again, careful to make sure that they weren't be observed, or that an Imperial patrol wasn't on its way already. He felt prompted.

“You shot him, didn't you?”

Maximov offered a small smile in response and opened his cloak slightly, revealing the sling that wrapped the snare rifle to his body. "I'm not fond of the Imperials myself. Of course, I'm not too fond of all the rebellious and Separatist groups either. I am fond, however, of the balance. Balance must be kept, Tes'dra. That's why I saved you. That's why I think it is a bad idea to be walking into the arms of the Imperials. There are other choices out there than light and dark. I'm not the best to ask, but I'd be rather sure I was wrong if I said I didn't feel some Force ability from you.

"So then, Tes'dra Nintra, what brings a non-Jedi Force-adept to lovely Coruscant into the jaws of the Imperials? Thinking of signing up to join the Inquisitorious?"

Being from a backwater world himself and having been largely in hiding the last few weeks, Tes'dra didn't know the name of the organization of the man that had been chasing him. His initial plan to offer himself to the Imperials had been one made on a hunch, following the urge that dwelled in his dreams, something told him the Imperials would lead him to the woman with the lonely eyes and the viridian blade.

He shook his head to Dmitri's question.

“No, I don't intend to do that.” He paused for a moment or two then, considering his next response to this man.

“You maintain the balance?” Balance of light against darkness? The kind of balance that would bring him to help the viridian blade in her fight against the faceless dark? Fate perhaps. He took another glance around the area in which they stood, before speaking again.

“Can you help me get off this world?”

"indeed, I maintain balance. I am one of many though, and we have worked tirelessly over thousands of years to maintain the balance. One day I may be the adviser to a Senator and the next, a simple bounty hunter." Maximov chuckled briefly and shook his head. "I confess I enjoy being the bounty hunter the most. I keep my own hours and take my own work. Ah, well. No man has it perfect. Even Palpatine and his leashed apprentice fear things, no matter how high they sit.

"But yes, off Coruscant? I won't say easier said than done, but I can do it. It's quite possible, you see, as I have Imperial codes that mark me as a high-ranking ISB agent. Quite unused as to this point and I see no issue in them. Where would you go, Tes'dra Nintra?"

It was a very good question that Dmitri was asking Tes'dra. Where would he go? He didn't answer the man at first as he stood and considered the question of where he would go. How did he explain what he was searching for? How did he explain that he was looking for the eyes that haunted his dreams? The man had already stated that he had observed Tes'dra to be sensitive to the..Force? Yes, the man must mean the kalak. Would Dmitri understand when Tes'dra explained that he had been having dreams for weeks about the same pair of eyes, the same woman in the dark fighting against faceless shadow?

Perhaps that was too much to tell for a first encounter.

“Honestly I don't know. I'm looking for someone, but I'm not sure where I should look next. But...” He paused and looked around them again, remaining vigilant for any signs of Imperial activity.

“I don't think its wise for me to remain on Coruscant.”

"Life is a never-ending search, Tes'dra. If you are meant to find this person, then you shall. If you are not, then you will know this as well, for your path will take you elsewhere. However, you are quite correct; remaining on Coruscant is more than foolish. I have a ship nearby. You are welcome to join me on it."

Maximov led Tes'dra through a number of passages; down ramps and up ramps, stairs, streets and even a turbolift. At last, they came to a rather shabby docking area where Maximov's ship sat. It was with a small bit of pride in his voice that he named her out loud. "This is the Fist of the Suns. A beautiful ship." The modified Firespray-31 was a rare ship to find. Maximov could only think offhand of one other person who owned a ship like this, and their paths did not cross often.

"So, where shall we go?"

Where to go? Indeed it was still a good question. Part of him had hoped that Dmitri would have just picked a destination, so that Tes'dra wouldn't have to make a decision on where to go just yet. He wasn't sure. He didn't want to step in the wrong direction, considering how constant and persistent his dreams had become as of late.

Well, perhaps he should take steps. Or take himself out of the hot-zone that was Coruscant – and put himself back into the frying pan so to speak, but on more equal terms.

He had followed Dmitri though the byzantine route that led to the man's ship. Tes'dra admired it with wide eyes, having not seen such a sophisticated looking vessel before. He was from a backwater world after all.

“Are there any that oppose the Empire in more than just thought? I would go to where they are.” He said, thinking that if the lonely eyes he sought bore a lightsaber – then surely it must be someone who opposed the Empire.

Maximov chuckled as the ramp lowered, allowing the men on board. He was silent for a time, conducting his preflight checks and then transmitting his codes, giving him authorization to leave. It was not until they were beyond Coruscant's shields and into hyperspace that he spoke. It had given him time to think. Tes'dra seemed a driven man and while, on occasion, Maximov had helped against the Empire, he'd also helped against rebellious movements.

"There are many who still oppose the Empire. There are dissidents, Jedi, even Separatist remnants. It is even rumored that some... are within the Imperial Senate. As to their exact locations, I cannot help you. I do not mix too deeply into their groups. I am a fringe man myself; a man in-between all movements. If you wish, however, you may use my communicator. It links to the places where those who fight the Empire can speak freely enough without too much worry. For now, we are going to an ice planet called Tantra. I have a feeling you may find help there."

He put the name of the planet they were going to in the back of his mind for a moment, he would research it some before they arrived. After all, he didn't really know this man. Tes'dra was acting as he had often done so all his life, impulsively, following what he thought was the promptings of the kalak. He looked all around him as Dmitri piloted the ship towards the planet Tantra, he was indeed relieved to be off of Coruscant. He promised himself that someday he would return to the planet, but it wouldn't be to return to hiding. It would be as a conqueror.

“You said before that you maintain the balance. The balance of what? What is your angle in all of this?” He asked, curious about the intentions and motives of the man that had assisted him off of Coruscant.

Maximov tugged the GRS-1 snare rifle off his shoulder and placed it carefully into the clips that held it in place when he was flying, which meant the weapon was within arm's reach. Tes'dra might catch a look at the odd long-handled lightsaber that hung from Maximov's belt. It was a variant that was not often seen these days, at least by Maximov's standards. It him an edge in combat over some of his better-trained foes.

"I maintain the balance of what is and what is not. Dark and light. Good and evil. Between those who have and those who have not. This means I maintain, as best I can, the neutrality of all things. As for my angle? I simply felt you needed to be saved. The Inquisitorious have been growing too rapidly these days. It is necessary to keep others who can touch the Force free from their clutches. By the same coin, the day may come when I track down Jedi to turn over to the Inquisitorious."

He paid attention as the man adjusted the rifle and took note of the lightsaber hilt. He thought it odd enough that the man had this pursuit of balance in mind, when it seemed as if he was a man that stood for nothing. But not meaning to be ungrateful, Tes'dra decided he wouldn't push the issue, even if the quote If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything came to mind. It just seemed, arbitrary to be making things even. Who decided what was even? Didn't the duality of all things make the others possible? Or perhaps that was why the man sought balance, to prevent any one thing from ceasing to exist.

Maybe he believed in an apocalypse of sorts occurring, were one side to gain too much power.

"So who is on Tantra?" He asked, discreetly changing the subject.
