Tammuz Sector
0300 Coruscant Standard Time

The dropped out of hyperspace one by one, in neat lines drawn up by the chief quartermaster who had assigned them their positions on this journey. In the fore was a Carrack-class light cruiser, the point man, meant to assess the situation which, in this corner of space, was quite clear for the time being. Behind the point man came the precious cargo, one after another. A trio of large and rather slow BFF-1 freighters, carrying grain bound for sale; a quintet of container transports, loaded with foodstuffs and behind them, a trio of Action VI transports laden with metals and extra precious items. At the very rear of the convoy emerged a single EF76 Nebulon-B frigate, the rear guard, which deployed its squadron of TIE fighters for this momentary layover. The freighters needed to conduct a few tests on hyperdrive systems, so it was not likely they would remain in realspace too long. For now, the convoy kept a slow and steady pace towards their next hyperjump destination.

Ships Fielded:

  • 1x Carrack-class light cruiser (configured for anti-starfighter)
  • 3x BFF-1 freighters
  • 5x Container transports
  • 3x Action VI transports
  • 1x EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate
  • 24x TIE fighters

Due to this signifying quite a large fleet passing through the Sector, a nearby pair of ships of the Sector Commerce Squadron, a Arquitens-class Frigate and a Rendili Light Corvette made a short detour off its route along the Triellus Trade Route and intercepted this large concentration of freighters. The commander of the two ships, a Lieutenant-Commander Burro opened a channel to the slow moving vessels.

"This is the Imperial Navy Sector Commerce Squadron, please identify cargo and destination" he said from the bridge of his ship, more querying the convoy out of boredom rather than anything else, there was little to do out here in the rim, no honour, no glory to be had, only drudgery and endless agricultural convoys. The Lieutenant Commander reflected on his position, in theory it looked desirable, he commanded a pair of reasonable sized and fast ships, but when one looked at his ships complement it was lamentable, between the two ships there were less and a hundred men, this he found a constant humiliation, having been desirous of a post on a large capital vessel, not piddling around as the gong farmer of the outer rim.

An equally bored voice emanated through the channel, originating from the EF76. "Darrel Wainwright, Captain of the Golem. Cargo is grain, foodstuffs and varied gems from the Abrion Sector bound to the Core Worlds and Deralia." Wainwright absolutely hated babysitting, especially with such a fine warship at his command. Still, as quiet as it had been in the Abrion Sector, there was little to do for a man to gain an easy promotion. As such, he dreamed of pirate attacks, fantasizing as to how he and his loyal crew and pilots would disperse them and the he would rise in the eyes of Moff Cole, the iron-fisted aristocrat who kept the Abrion Sector pirate-free.

"Anything going on in this sector?" Clicking off his end of the comm, Wainwright leaned back and closed his eyes, awaiting a response.
